Hit The Bottle Nail Art Challenge - Negative Space

Saturday, 16 January 2021

Today I have another Hit The Bottle Nail Art Challenge mani to share with you.  I wish I loved this mani but honestly I don't like it at all.  It's not at all what I thought it would be and I really wished that I had used a negative space stamping image instead.  Maybe I will re do this prompt at a future date.  With all that said I am going to keep today's post nice and short - simple because I don't really have much to say.

For this mani I used Hit The Bottle Snowed In, Looking For Mr Grey, A Flock Of Seagulls and As Black As Night.

Let's just pretend that today's mani didn't happen and hope that the next mani for this challenge is better than this...

Hit The Bottle Nail Art Challenge - Geometric

Saturday, 9 January 2021

I'm going strong with the Hit The Bottle Nail Art challenge.  I'm already on the second prompt.  It really seems kinda odd to me to be back doing a nail art challenge but soooo familiar at the same time.  Despite only having to do one prompt a week.  I'm not sure I have ever done that before.  Anyway, today's prompt is geometric.

This mani I probably could have used for last week's neon prompt but what can I say?  I love neon polishes and Michelle has some awesome ones. For my gradient I used Hit The Bottle Shazam Yellow, Orange You Excited and I Pink Therefore I Am, and stamped using As Black As Night.  Image is from What's Up Nails Geo-Radical.

It's kinda funny looking at the pictures for this mani because in person I couldn't see any white bits coming through but they are clear as day in these pics.  This mani is also much brighter in person.  I absolutely loved wearing it!  Now to start getting some ideas for next week's prompt - negative space.

Hit The Bottle Nail Art Challenge - Neon

Saturday, 2 January 2021

Look at me posting again!  That's seven posts in a row!  I'm definitely not going to be daily blogging but it's great getting back into it.  One of my goals (aside from doing more blog posts this year) is to do more nail art.  I have said that a few times over the years and I get a little lazy, I don't have any ideas of what to do or I don't have time.  I can't help the lack of time but the one thing that will help me when I have no ideas is nail art challenges.  Back in the very early days of Instagram (and when I was doing a LOT of nail art) I was doing at least one nail art challenge - but usually it is three to four challenges.  It was a crazy time but I really enjoyed it.  So I am back doing another nail art challenge!  I am late to the Hit The Bottle Challenge but it's better late than never.  For those that don't know Hit The Bottle have created a weekly challenge where the only rule is is that you need to use at least one of their polishes.  Let's get started with my first prompt - neon!

This was a bit of an easy prompt because I have a lot of neon polishes from Hit The Bottle.  I was tempted to go a little crazy and use all the colours but then I decided to go a little more simple.  Something different to what I think most people will do.  I am so glad that I did because I absolutely love this mani!  For my gradient I used Hit The Bottle Whiskey Latte and I Pink, Therefore I Am and stamped using As Black As Night.  Image is from Uberchic Beauty Got Chevron 02.

It feels good to be back with some nail art.  Let's hope I can keep it up!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Colours - Day Five

Friday, 17 May 2019

This week's Digit-al Dozen Does Colours has been full of Moyra products and I thought I may as well end the week with more Moyra.  The main reason I made a purchase from Moyra was because of the foil stamping polish.  I have a heap of foils that I don't use so I thought having a stamping polish that worked for foils would help me use them.  There is definitely a learning curve with these that's for sure.

For my base I used Essie Saltwater Happy, Mint Candy Apple, Saved By The Belle and Baguette Me Not.  Stamping was done using Moyra's Silver Foil Stamping Polish and their Magic Foil in Silver.  Image is from Moyra's Nature stamping plate.

While this mani is far from perfect, I do love how shiny the foil is.  I definitely need to practice some more with these and hopefully perfect it.  Foil stamping is awesome!

I hope you guys have enjoyed this week's Digit-al Dozen Does Colours as much as I have.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Colours - Day Four

Thursday, 16 May 2019

I can't believe that there are only two more days left of the Digit-al Dozen Does Colours.  This week has certainly gone quick.  Possibly because I like this weeks theme.  It definitely has  helped me get my nail art mojo back....a bit.

Today's mani isn't at all what I had planned on doing.  My original plan was to do gradient stamping but I couldn't for the life of me getting the image to pick up properly with the gradient....so I decided to do a gradient background instead.  For my base I used Colour Alike B. A Yellow Glow, B. A Green Light and B. A Cobalt Kick and stamped using Powder Perfect's Black Stamping Polish.  Image is from Moyra's Aboriginal stamping plate.

While this mani isn't what I first thought it would be, I really like the end result.

I'm excited for tomorrow's mani because I am going to be trying something I have never done before.  Fingers crossed that it turns out ok.  See you tomorrow.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Colours - Day Three

Wednesday, 15 May 2019

Yesterday I did a mani that I am still so in love with (thank goodness that I take pictures of my manis so the memories can live forever or else I would be sad for taking the pretty manis and polishes off).  I am happy to report that I love today's mani too.  Woohoo!

When it comes to doing colours I can never go past the Pretty Serious Cosmetics Pastel Pets collections.  They are all great colours and I use them A LOT.  I did mix up (a little) which polishes I used and I am so happy I did.  I love this mix of colours.  For my base I used Bon Bon, Poppet, Bunny Foo Foo, Peachie Poo, Little Duckling and Cutie Patootie.  I stamped using Hit The Bottle's Snowed In and Moyra's Nature Stamping Plate.

I think doing these type of backgrounds will always be a favourite of mine and these colours just blended so well together.  I'm so in love.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Colours - Day Two

Tuesday, 14 May 2019

I recently purchased a bunch of goodies from Moyra Stamping (I will be sharing them with you over the coming weeks) so this week's Digit-al Dozen theme of colours is probably also going to be a bit of a Moyra week.   I always love playing with new things.

I ordered the Stained Glass plate for a couple of reasons - it is unlike anything I already own, it has some major potential for some really gorgeous manis and because I thought it would be perfect to do some lead lighting with.  Now I already had plans for this image before my plate arrive but I have seen the mani that Serene (Copycat Claws) did (which is absolutely stunning) so I guess you can say that my mani is inspired by hers.  For my base I used China Glaze I'd Melt For You and the full Hit The Bottle's Jelly Shot Collection (with the exception of the black).

I am obsessed with this mani!  It's one of those manis that I could leave on for week's but sadly it has to come off for day three of the Digit-al Dozen.  Let's hope that I can do something that I love just as much as today's mani tomorrow.  No pressure eek.

Don't forget to check out the other coloured manis from the Digit-al Dozen girls.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Colours - Day One

Monday, 13 May 2019

It's funny - I took one month off the Digit-al Dozen and I feel like it has been a year since I have done any of the themes.  Time is such a strange thing isn't it?  Anyway, it's Digit-al Dozen time again and this month we are doing colours.  Originally the theme was 3 colours but some where along the lines it changed to colours.  Either way, there is going to be a lot of colour this week and I am excited!

For today's mani I went with a three colour gradient and black stamping.  For my gradient I used China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy, Purple Panic and That's Shore Bright.  Image is from Moyra's Colourbook stamping plate.

I love today's mani and I am so excited to see the other Digit-al Dozen manis.  I am really hoping that all these coloured manis this week will bring back some serious nail art mojo for me.  I have definitely been lacking nail art mojo for a little while now.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Books - Day Five

Saturday, 16 March 2019

It's the final day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Books.  As much as I was dreading this week, I think it has been a little bit fun.  More so this end half of the week.  Once I got out of thinking I had to do a book that you read, it really opened up some other ideas.  Like today - today I have done a colouring in book.  More specifically an adult colouring book.

For my base I used Emily de Molly Bright Retreat (is that a surprise to anyone?  I go through about a million bottles of this stuff) and stamped using Powder Perfect's Black Stamping Polish.  All of the images are from Uberchic Beauty's Radiate Love.  I couldn't really pick which images I wanted to use so I used picked a row and used them all.

That brings us to the end of the Digit-al Dozen Does Books!  I am so happy I managed to complete it.  Now to start worrying about the next Digit-al Dozen theme.  Ekk.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Books - Day Four

Friday, 15 March 2019

I was thinking that today was the last day for the Digit-al Dozen Does Books but it's only Day Four.  Never fear, I do have an idea for tomorrow's mani but let's talk about today's.  Yesterday when I was going through some of my stamping plates looking for book images I stumbled across Lina Nail Art Supplies Hipster, Geek Or Chic 01 and I just had to use this image.

Now you may be looking at this mani and thinking "Tracy, what the hell is this?"  Well this image is very maths like which for me turns into a maths book.  I used to do A LOT of maths when I was in high school and I would always writing in grey lead pencil which is why I did today's mani in white (for the paper) and grey (for the grey lead pencil).  For my base I used Emily de Molly Bright Retreat and stamped using Hit The Bottle Looking For Mr Grey.

One more day to go!  Woohoo!  I hope you guys have been checking out the other amazing girls in the Digit-al Dozen.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Books - Day Three

Thursday, 14 March 2019

I'm back for Day Three of the Digit-al Dozen Does Books.  Woohoo!  Funny story, I pulled out a bunch of my stamping plates that were book related like the Uberchic Beauty Fairytale plates, a mermaid plate but for some strange reason they just weren't giving me any ideas of what to do on my nails.  But then I had a thought - who actually said that "books" needed to be something that you read?  No one.  So for today's mani I did note book nails.

For my base I used Emily de Molly Bright Retreat and stamped using Maniology's Quasar and Astronomical.  Images are from Lina Nail Art Supplies Feeling Shapely 01.

I really need to practice stamping straight lines.  Having such a massive curve in my nails doesn't help either.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Books - Day Two

Tuesday, 12 March 2019

It's Day Two of The Digit-al Dozen Does Books.  When thinking about this week's theme I was thinking about children's books.  They are what we read most in our house (reading time for me was replaced with nail time and of course social media oops) so it just seemed fitting.  My daughter is currently into reading a book series called Rainbow Magic and I thought they made for some great nail art.

One thing about the Rainbow Magic books that stands out to me is the metallic images that sit behind each of the fairies.  Each book has a different them and colour which is always fun.  Anyway, if I could do better free hand then I totally would have free handed this mani but I can't so really this mani looks nothing like the book cover.  Let's just say that it is inspired by Elle The Thumbelina Fairy.  For this mani I used Emily de Molly Original Cindy and Slacker, Bums And Weirdos for my gradient, and stamped with Hit The Bottle I Blue It All On Polish and Snowed In.  Images are from Lina Nail Art Supplies Feeling Shapely 09 and Uberchic Beauty Fairytale 02.

I will be having a slight break from this week's Digit-al Dozen as I have a very important polish to share with you guys tomorrow.  I will return to the Digit-al Dozen book manis on Thursday.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Books - Day One

Monday, 11 March 2019

It's Digit-al Dozen week again and I'll be honest - I am dreading this week's book theme.  It is definitely one of my least favourite themes that we have this year.  But it is a challenge that I am going to take on for the full five days.  Who knows how well this is going to go.  I guess we will find out together.

There is a little bit of a story behind today's mani.  It was late at night and I needed something that was quick to put on my nails (ie something that requires one coat and dries quick) so that I didn't have naked nails the next day.  Roll on the next night as I sat down to think of what the hell to do for today's mani.  Black nails = Little Black Book.  Yep.  Nice and easy and ticks the box for the book theme.  Given little black books are meant to be secretive I thought it would be fun to do a matte base with shiny stamping.  I do like how this mani came out.  For my base I used Emily de Molly Fade Into Black (which I topped with Picture Polish G'day Matte) and stamped using Powder Perfect's Black Stamping Polish.

I've survived Day One.  Woohoo!  The other girls definitely will have some amazing manis this week so I highly recommend checking them out if you haven't already.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Texture - Day Five

Saturday, 16 February 2019

I have to say it feels super weird having a Digit-al Dozen post on a Saturday, but yay for it being the last day!  With that said, I have actually liked playing with texture this week and rediscovering a plate that I love!  Because I play with so many new things (I love new things!) I tend to forget (or don't have the time) to play with the other things that I love.  I definitely need to rediscover some other favourites of mine.

I really loved yesterdays mani and was soooooo tempted to do this mani in a neon version but I thought they would be too similar so I went for pastels instead.  This mani is kinda giving me Easter vibes.  For my base I used Emily de Molly Bright Retreat and stamped using Hit The Bottle Lemon Meringue Fizz, Bubblegum Bliss and Arctic Cloudberry.  Image is from Uberchic Texture-licious.

That's a wrap on this week's Digit-al Dozen Does Texture.  I have really enjoyed this week - both doing my own and seeing what everyone else did.  These are so many awesome manis this week!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Texture - Day Four

Friday, 15 February 2019

After yesterday's flop of a mani I thought I would go back to something more "me".....neons!  You can't go wrong with neons if you ask me.   Today's mani definitely was meant to be something else but as I was doing it it turned in a different direction and I am not mad about it at all.  In fact, I love how this mani turned out and it will be making it's way to my monthly favourites.

For my base I used Emily de Molly Bright Retreat, dry brushed on Orly Glowstick, Skinny Dip and Beach Cruiser, and stamped using Powder Perfect's Black Stamping Polish.  Image is from Uberchic Texture-licious.  I love this stamping plate!  I'm thinking tomorrow's mani will also be with this plate.

I know there is some smudging with this mani but I actually really like it.  Normally I would try and avoid smudging but definitely not for this design.  I am sad that I'll have to take this mani off.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Texture - Day Three

Thursday, 14 February 2019

I'm back with another Digit-al Dozen Does Texture post.  I'm not sure if I am now a day behind the other girls or not, or maybe because my timezone is ahead I am now inline with the others?  Guess we will find out soon enough.  Anyway, today's mani is a bit of a fail but sadly I didn't have time to do another mani.

Seems I loved the look of the stamping over the texture polish from the other day I thought I would do a negative space type of stamping for today's mani.  In theory this mani should look awesome, but reality took it a different way.  I definitely should have used a lighter coloured base colour.  Oh well, you live and you learn.  For my base I used Zoya Carter (which was an untried polish of mine) and stamped using Powder Perfect's Black Stamping Polish.  Image (not that you can really see what it is) is from Lina Nail Art Supplies Totally Negative.

Let's hope that tomorrow's mani is a lot better than today's.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Texture - Day Two

Tuesday, 12 February 2019

It's really not a Textured theme without breaking out some textured polishes.  I automatically thought of the OPI Liquid Sands but really want to try and use some of my untried polishes which made me think of my Zoya Pixie Dusts.  I have quite a few of them but I don't think I have used a lot of them.... I say I don't think I have used them because at this point in time I barely know what I have in my collection let alone what I have actually worn.  So much so I have decided that I am going to try and swatch 100 untried polishes by the end of the year.  I'm not sure how likely it is this will happen but I will be adding it to my "New Years Resolutions".

When I was going through my Pixie Dust collection I found Zoya Alice and I thought it was gorgeous and needed to go on my nails.  I thought it was an untried polish of mine.  Turns out it's not and I have swatches and review already here on my blog.  Oops.  It's still gorgeous though.  I stamped over it using Pueen 61 (which was an untried plate of mine - it still had the blue plastic on it!) and Hit The Bottle Snowed In.

I quite like using textured polishes and Alice is so pretty.  I should play with texture polishes more.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Texture - Day One (& Four Year Blogiversary)

Monday, 11 February 2019

It's Digit-al Dozen time again and if I am honest, it has popped up really quickly.  It feels like it was on a couple of weeks ago I was sitting down to do my first Digit-al Dozen post for the year.  Guess what else has popped up?  My four year blogiversary!  I can't believe that I have been blogging for four years now!  It has gone really quickly but boy has it been fun!  I really do love blogging!  I wish that I had something special planned for my four year blogiversary post but it really did surprise me so I didn't have time to prepare something special.  Anyway, I'm not here to babbling on about my blogiversary.  I'm here to share my first mani for the Digit-al Dozen Does Texture.

When I first started thinking about doing texture manis I first thought of textured polishes.  I definitely will be breaking out some textured polishes this week but first - I decided too play with Uberchic Texture-licious stamping plate.  I absolutely love this image!  I think I may be busting it out again later this week.  For my base I used Orly Risky Behavior and stamped using Hit The Bottle Snowed In and Powder Perfect Black Stamping Polish.

I love this mani!  I feel like I should add a matte top coat to this mani too.  Maybe that is a job for later today.  If I do that I'll make sure I add some pictures.

I am excited to see what the other Digit-al Dozen girls do for this week's theme.  Be sure to check out there posts too.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Marble - Day Five

Friday, 18 January 2019

Woohoo!  I've made it through my first week back of the Digit-al Dozen.  It's definitely been a very bumpy ride, but today is the final day of the Marble manis.  I'm clearly out of practice when it comes to nail art challenges.  Hopefully next month will be better.

Funny story about today's mani.  I was originally going to keep my textured and stamped nails from yesterday, however I was cooking and cleaning and they kinda needed to be re done.  So this is what I came up with instead.  It's not a mani I love, but I certainly don't hate it.  Polishes used are Pretty Serious Cosmetics Poppet (I love this colour) and Starship Doom (which I am pretty sure I have never worn before so yay for using some untrieds).  Image is from Dixie Nails Marbled 01 stamping plate.

That brings us to the end of the Digit-al Dozen Does Marble.  I hope you have enjoyed following along.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Marble - Day Four

Thursday, 17 January 2019

Oh how I wish I had a better mani for today's Digit-al Dozen Does Marble, but sadly today's is very much a fail.  I was going to scrap it but time isn't on my side this week, but I remembered that I have had a few people comment that they would like to see some more of my failed manis so this is for you guys!

This mani was inspired by @nail_sunny.  I found it on Pinterest and I thought it looked great.  Sadly, my version looks nothing like it should.  Polishes used are Hit The Bottle A Flock Of Seagulls, Looking For Mr Grey, and Snowed In, and OPI Emotions.  Stamping image is from Dixie Nails Marbled 01.

I also tried this mani mattified.  I do like the matte version better....but from a distance.  Not close up.

Here is a look at what the mani was went to be like.

Right let's all pretend that today's mani never happened and lets hope for a better mani tomorrow.  In the mean time don't forget to check out the other girls manis.  I'm sure they have done a much better job than I have.
