May 2018 Favourites

Thursday 31 May 2018

These last few days have just flown by for me.  I can't believe that it's nearly June.  I know that June is going to be a very busy month for me (I am officially going to be working again) so I am not sure how many blog posts there will be but it definitely won't be daily blogging that's for sure.  Anyway, to round up of the month of May, here is all of the things that I have loved this month.

Nail Art
I feel like this month has been a little quiet on the nail art front for me.  I have managed to narrow down my favourites to these four manis.  I think that is the smallest monthly favourites I have had before.

Mainstream Polishes
There hasn't been really too many mainstream polishes that I have shared on my blog this month (I do have some new Color Club polishes which I will be sharing in June so I'll hold off talking about them.

China Glaze Shades Of Paradise Collection
I am still on the fence about this collection.  I don't think it's a terrible collection but it's definitely not the best collection from China Glaze.  Anyway I do love four of the polishes from this collection - Water Falling In Love, Stop Beachfrontin', Don't Be Sea Salty and Ma-holo At Me.

Nicole Diary Wonderworld (Part) Collection
Nicole Diary isn't technically mainstream but they definitely aren't indies either.  Whatever you want to call them I do love two of the polishes from the Wonderworld collection.  I am such a sucker for multichromes and flakies.

Indie Polishes
It's no surprise that this is the biggest section of my favourites again this month.  Indies really do know how to make the best polishes don't they?

Emily de Molly Odd Strategy
Odd Strategy is the soon to be released polish from June's Polish Pick Up.  I highly recommend grabbing this polish.  It's so much better in person than what my pictures show.

Emily de Molly A Piece Of You
EdM's Polish Pick Up's are awesome!  I love A Piece Of You which was there May PPU shade.

Emily de Molly May Releases
I know I say this time and time again but Emily de Molly make the best polishes!  You can pretty much guarantee that there will be at least one EdM polish in my monthly favourites.  May's release is filled with lots of awesome polishes!  My favourite of favourites from May are Travels By Day, Winter's Gate, Reflected Glory and The Longest Night.

Grace-full Nail Polish Faraway Collection
Grace-full is another brand that you will see time and time again in my favourites posts.  The Faraway Collection is awesome and filled with so many great polishes.  My top picks are Moonface, The Tree and Saucepan Man.

Grace-full Nail Polish Message In A Model
This polish was released as part of May's Polish Pick Up.  It's so beautiful!

Grace-full Nail Polish Miss Speedster
I don't think I can rave about this polish enough!  I would say that it is one of my all time favourite Grace-full's.... although that would be quite hard for me to decide.  Anyway, this polish is being released as part of June's Polish Pick Up.

Indie Spectrum May 2018
This month was the first ever Indie Spectrum box and what a way to start!  I am so excited to see the upcoming boxes!

Pretty Serious Cosmetics Pastel Pets 2 Collection
Pretty Serious released their second edition of Pastel Pets to their range and I love them!  Such gorgeous colours - especially for nail art.

And that was May.  There has definitely been lots of gorgeous polishes released in this last month.  I know June will also have some good stuff coming too!

Emily de Molly Polish Pick Up June 2018 - Swatches & Review

Wednesday 30 May 2018

I always love seeing what Emily de Molly come for the Polish Pick Up.  They always have something new and exciting.  June's Polish Pick Up may be one of my favourite polishes that Emily de Molly have done.  There is something about it that draws me to it.  It's one of those polishes that you kinda keep looking at.

Odd Strategy is a dark lilac grey with green to purple shifting shimmer and blue chrome flakes.  I'm really not sure if my swatches do this polish justice.  The colour, flakes and shimmer are all gorgeous and the formula is amazing!  My swatch shows two coats.

Grace-full Nail Polish Polish Pick Up June 2018 - Swatches & Review

Tuesday 29 May 2018

It seems a little weird to be talking about June already but June is just around the corner...and by corner I mean it's only days away.  Eek!  I seriously can't get over how quick this year is going by.   Anyway, as it is the start of the month (or close enough to) it is time for another Polish Pick Up release.  I have both the Grace-full Nail Polish and Emily de Molly polishes to share with you.  Starting with Grace-full!  I'll have the Emily de Molly polish on my blog tomorrow.

Miss Speedster is a candy pink linear holo with pink, lavender and gold shimmer and gold flakes.  This polish was love at first sight for me.  I actually started to fall in love with it when it was still in bubble wrap and I couldn't really see it properly.  Not only is the colour absolutely stunning but the formula is fantastic too.  My swatch shows two coats.

Nicole Diary Wonderworld (Part) Collection - Swatches & Review

Monday 28 May 2018

I was contacted back in March by Nicole Diary to see if I would like to swatch and review some more of their products.  I have previously worked with Nicole Diary before and have a bit of mixed reaction to their brand.  The first time I worked with them (which was back in 2016) it was great.  Communication was good, shipping time was good and the product was good as well.  I was contacted by them again shortly after my initially review asking if I would like to review some more products.  I replied and then heard nothing back from them.  No products arrived and they ignored all my emails.  That was a couple of years ago now so fast forward back the March of this year and I agreed to given them another go.  I was sent four of the polishes from the Wonderworld Collection, sadly one of the polishes broke in transit.  The shipping also took eight weeks to get to me.  I have never had a package take so long to arrive before so that was quite disappointing (I was quoted three to five weeks).

Burning Sun is a multichrome that shifts from a bronze/copper to green and gold.  This is my least favourite of the three that I have tried.  It's just not my sort of colour and it doesn't shift as may colours as the others.  I used one coat over black.

Iridescent Cloud is a clear base with multichrome flakies.  I love this one.  There are so many colours, plus it's flakies!  I love flakies!  You could wear this on its own but you will need to sponge it on to get it opaque.  I used one coat over black.

Rainbow Shadow is a multichrome that shifts between so many colours.  There is more colours than is shown in my pictures.  So pretty and definitely a favourite of mine.  My swatch shows one coat over black.

I have always been a big fan of multichromes and flakies so this Wonderworld Collection is definitely right up my alley.  My personal favourites are definitely Rainbow Shadow and Iridescent Cloud.

The Wonderworld Collection is available now from Nicole Diary.  You can use the code OJNL10 for a 10% discount.

Have you shopped with Nicole Diary before?

Emily de Molly May 2018 Releases - Swatches & Review

Saturday 26 May 2018

I know I say this every single month, but Emily de Molly have killed it with their latest releases!  There isn't a single polish in this month's release that I don't like or am on the fence about.  Narrowing down the favourites from this release may be close to impossible.  Let's take a look at them shall we?  This is a very picture heavy post so I will try and keep the chatting to a minimum.

Causing Friction is a red based brown with golden/green shimmer, green to blue shifting iridescent flakes and fuchsia micro glitters.  I really like the mix of glitters, shimmer and flakes in this polish.  It's so interesting.  The formula is amazing.  You could get away with only one coat.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Larger Than Life is a chartreuse with golden/green shimmer and silver holographic micro glitters.  This polish is very sparkly and reminds me of summer.  The formula is easy to use.  I did find that it was a little bit see through at the tips after two coats so I used three coats for my swatch.

Lost In Translation is a pale pink (warm) to brown (cold) thermal with copper overlay and silver micro metallic micro glitters.  I really like this one, particularly in the warm state.  It shifts well between the two shades and the formula is awesome.  My swatch shows two coats.

Mundane Tasks is a steel blue crelly with green chrome flakes and green and fuchsia micro glitters.  This is another one of those old school indies that seem to be popping up here and there and I am more than ok with it.  I really like the base colour and the glitters.  The formula is amazing and close to being a one coater.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Reflected Glory is a coppery red foil holo with strong gold shimmer.  This is such a gorgeous colour and the formula is fantastic.  My swatch shows two coats.

The Longest Night is a dark teal with golden/green shimmer and silver holographic micro glitters.  This polish is gorgeous!  I love everything about it.  The formula is awesome and is opaque in two coats.

Travels By Day is a purple/gold/green multichrome magnetic with blue iridescent shimmer in a dark blue base.  I love, love, love this one!  The colour is gorgeous both before and after the magnet, and the formula is awesome.  I have learnt with magnets that top coat makes it shift some more.  I did have a nice crisp line until I added top coat.  My swatch shows two coats.

Winter's Gate is a very pale greyed lilac with gold/green/blue shifting aurora pigment.  Love this one too.  It's so pretty and delicate, and the glitter/pigment is stunning!  The formula is on the sheer side so I would actually consider using a base colour next time.  For my swatch I used three coats.
