Essie Summer 2015 Collection - Swatches & Review

Monday 22 February 2016

I'm going to start this post by saying that this is probably one of my favorite Essie collections to date.  For my international readers (particularly those who are in the US) you will have already seen this collection, but it has recently hit our Australia shores.  It is summer here, well at least it is meant to be.  Melbourne seems to have forgotten what summer is meant to be like.  But that doesn't stop us enjoying all the beautiful polishes.

Chillato is described as a frozen cream pistachio.  I think this is such a nice colour.  The formula is easy to work with, however it does apply a little unevenly on the first coat (a common probably for such a light colour).  I needed three coats for it to be fully opaque.

Peach Side Babe is a peach creme.  Such a beautiful colour with a great formula.  My swatch shows two coats.

Pret-a-surfer is a marine blue creme.  This polish is stunning and the formula is amazing.  It only requires one coat and it stamps like a dream.  Huge plus for me.  Now this polish isn't colour accurate in my picture.  I have no idea why it photographs the way it does.  It didn't matter the lighting or what camera I used, it was pretty much the same result.  I did a quick google search and found that most swatches look like my picture.  I have included a picture of a swatch that is the most colour accurate.

Private Weekend is a white shimmer.  I was a little disappeared with this one. It looks really pretty and sparkly in the bottle, but it doesn't really translate on the nails.  The shimmer just doesn't really show up on the nails at all.  The formula applies unevenly and needs three coats to be opaque.

Saltwater Happy is described as an Atlantic blue creme.  Whatever you want to call it, it's stunning.  This is another on of my favorites from this collection.  The formula is amazing, and is super close to being a one coater.  My swatch shows two coats.

Sunset Sneaks is a vibrant crimson red creme.  Nice bright red for summer and the formula is great.  My swatch shows two coats.

I really like this collection, especially those blues.  The formulas across the collection are really good.  You can bet that I will be using these lots, even in the cooler months.

The Essie Summer 2015 Collection is limited edition so head down to your local Priceline and grab them while you still can.

  1. I do like the colors but I am afraid of Essie polishes. The first polish I ever bought from them was called Marshmallow, a white jelly, when I first started doing my nails. It was like painting skim milk over my nails and I was soooo disappointed. I was expecting a creme. Haven't bought an Essie polish since. LOL

    1. Oh no! I don't blame you for being scared of Essie. I would too. I've never used Marshmallow before so I can't comment on that one, but this collection has great formulas. That being said we have different brushes here in Australia, not the skinny ones that you get in the US. It may make the world of difference.

  2. I love a thicker flatter brush and a slightly thicker formula. Does Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure have thicker flatter brushes there? Those are my favorite brushes.

    1. To be honest, I have no clue. I'm not even sure I have tried a Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish before. If I have I don't actually remember doing so lol
