June 2020 Favourites

Tuesday, 30 June 2020

Hello, hello!  Long time no see.  It feels like forever since posting and I'll be honest - it's been nice having a break.  I haven't been swatching much lately or really doing my nails at all.  During my break I have been able to go back and re wear some of my previously loved polishes that I rarely get the opportunity to wear.  Like Emily de Molly Out Cold.  I'm wearing that on my nails and loving it!  Anyway, despite being on a break it felt a little wrong not to do a monthly favourites post.  So here we are...

Nail Art
It's not really a surprise for my to say that June hasn't had any nail art.  Actually I did do some very basic nail art at some point but I never photographed.

Stamping Polishes
I played with a few stamping polishes this month but really there was only one that I love!

Hit The Bottle I Am Woman, Hear Me Pour (Polish Pick Up June)
This polish doubles as a regular polish and a stamping polish.  It's gorgeous, it stamps perfectly, is a one coater and also looks awesome with no top coat (it has a matte finish).  Love, love, love!

Indie Polishes
Again this past month I haven't played with any mainstream polishes (aside from ones that I have previously swatched before) but I have played with a few indies.  Indies are definitely something that I have been reaching for more and more lately.  In fact, the last 3-4 manis I have done have all been Emily de Molly polishes... and the mani before that was a Grace-full.  So many stunners from these ladies!

Emily de Molly Coolth (Polish Pick Up June)
This was one of those polishes that I loved so much that I wore it for nearly a week (and that was before I took a break).  The colour is gorgeous (despite being a pain to photograph) and I love the matte white glitters.  It's really a simple yet awesome polish.

Emily de Molly June 2020 Releases
I honestly could put the full release this month in my favourites but I have been a good girl and narrowed them down to these five - Open Work (which I recently had back on my nails), Thereabouts, Resort To Swim, Stuck In The Clouds and Only Us.

Emily de Molly Limited Edition June Polishes
Along side the amazing release this month, Emily de Molly also released two limited edition polishes and they are both gorgeous!

Grace-full Nail Polish Boozy Smurf (Polish Pick Up June 2020)
This is an incredible blue polish that I am definitely needing back on my nails.  Maybe it will be my next mani...

That brings us to the end of a very small favourites post.  Aside from these things mentioned already I really have loved rediscovering some of my older polishes.  It's been so nice (although a little challenging to workout what to wear) having them back on my nails.

Now you may be wondering what is going to happen in terms of July.  Well honestly I have no idea at the moment.  My daughter is on school holidays for the next couple of weeks and we might be heading back into a lockdown again so I'm not sure how much nail time I will have.  It will be a wait and see thing.  Despite swatches and reviews would you be interested in seeing what I wear on my nails?  I definitely don't change them often and it will most likely be things I have already worn.  Let me know what you think.

Dance Legend Hip Hop (Part) Collection - Swatches & Review

Saturday, 13 June 2020

Today's post has definitely been a long time in the making.  I feel like I have had these polishes to swatch sitting in my rack for years (definitely hasn't been that long but it has been a while).  Anyway, today I have the last of the Dance Legend polishes I was sent to swatch to share with you.  So without further ado, let's look at three of the Hip Hop Collection.

No Diggity is described as a blue jelly with some duochrome micro shimmer shifting from pink to purple, as well as turquoise, blue and purple-pink metallic flakes.  I really like the base colour of this but it kinda hinds the flakes a little too much.  The formula is great and it applies evenly.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Purple Swag is described as a dark purple jelly with gold micro shimmer and a mix of green, gold, pink, purple and blue multichrome metallic flakes.  Great colour and the flakes are so pretty.  The formula is a little patchy on the first coat but evens out on the second.  My swatch shows two coats.

Shimmy Shimmy Ya is described as a clear based top coat filled with holographic particles and multicoloured duochrome metallic flakes.  This is a great topper!  I think it would look great over so many different base colours.  I could quite decide what to use it over so I went with black.  My swatch shows one coat over black.

The Hip Hop Collection is available now from Dance Legend.

Emily de Molly June 2020 Limited Edition Polishes - Swatches & Review

Wednesday, 10 June 2020

In case you may have missed it - Emily de Molly have a new release coming up.  There are a total of ten polishes with different finishes and colours so there is definitely something in there for everyone.  Along side the release there is also two limited edition polishes which I have to share with you today.

LE231 is a dark green base with pink/gold/green multichrome shimmer and silver holographic micro glitter.  I love the shimmer in this polish.  It's so pretty!  The whole combination of everything in this polish is beautiful.  The formula is also fantastic and is opaque in two coats.

I love both of these!  The both are gorgeous polishes with great formulas.  What more can you ask for really?

The Limited Edition polishes will be available (along with the June releases) Thursday 11th June at 10am AEST from Emily de Molly's Australian site and Wednesday 10th June at 8pm EDT from the international site.

Emily de Molly June 2020 Releases - Swatches & Review

Monday, 8 June 2020

Emily de Molly recently celebrated their 8th birthday.  That seemed a little crazy to me originally because it really didn't seem that long.  But then I thought about it.  I really started collecting polishes back in late 2010 (only OPI at the point) and didn't really venture into the indie world until maybe 2012 which would have been when Emily de Molly start.  They were among the first brands I purchased so it really makes sense that they are 8 years.  Boy does the time go quickly.  Anyway, Emily de Molly have no signs of slowing down (yay!) so today I get to share with you their upcoming release.  I also have a couple of limited edition polishes which I will have on my blog Wednesday.  Heads up - this post is very picture heavy.  Right, let's look at these polishes shall we.

A New Place is a light grey base with pink/gold/green chrome flakes.  I'm a big fan of this one.  The base colour is nice and I love the flakies.  The formula is good and applies evenly.  For my swatch I used three coats, however you can stop at two coats.

Day To Day is a very pale brown with blue micro flakes.  I love how simple this polish is but it's so pretty.  The formula is amazing and applies like butter.  For my swatch I used two coats.

Distinct Lines is a berry pink base with metallic gold flakes and a silvery white magnetic effect.  This is a nice polish.  I like the colour, the gold glitters and the magnetic effect.  The formula is great and easy to use.  For my swatch I used two coats.

Hands Held High is a dusty pink base with very strong gold overlay.  This one is sooooo pretty!  The formula is easy to use and applies evenly.   I used three coats for my swatch, but you can stop at two coats.

One More Try is a dark purple base with green/blue/purple shifting foil type shimmer and orange/red shifting glitters.  I love the colours in this polish.  I did find the first coat of this polish was a little tricky (it was kinda dragging), however the second coat was really easy to use.  For my swatch I used three coats, but you can stop at two coats.

Only Us is a dark blurple base with blue iridescent flakes and pink/gold/green shifting shimmer.  Love this one.  It has a real wow factor to it as soon as it hits your nails.  I think it is so pretty and the formula is great and easy to use.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Open Work is a purple base with pink/gold/green shifting aurora shimmer.  Obsessed with this one!  It's so shifty and just amazing.  The formula is great and easy to use.  For my swatch I used three coats but you can stop at two coats.  I knocked a nail while it was wet so added the extra coat to fix it.

Resort To Swim is a bright turquoise green base with pink/orange/green shifting aurora shimmer.  LOVE this one too.  It's gorgeous and it's easy to use.  My swatch shows three coats.

Stuck In The Clouds is a dark blue base with copper/gold/green shifting aurora shimmer.  Love this one as well.  I think I basically like everything with aurora shimmer.  At some point I need to create a section in my polish drawers just for things with aurora shimmer in them.  Anyway, the formula of this one is great and it applies easily.  For my swatch I used three coats.

Thereabouts is a dark but vibrant purple crelly with neon pink glitters. Another love of mine.  I think the colour is gorgeous and I love the glitter.  The formula is easy to use and has good glitter payoff.  I used three coats for my swatch.

I'm sure it will come as no surprise to hear me say that I love this month release.  There are sooooo many awesome shades and finishes.  I think there is definitely something in here for everyone.  My personal favourites are Open Work, Stuck In The Clouds, Thereabouts, Resort To Swim and Only Us.  Look at me narrowing them down!  It was hard but I did it!

The June releases will be available Thursday 11th June at 10am AEST from Emily de Molly's Australian site and Wednesday 10th June at 8pm EDT from the international site.
