Hit The Bottle Double Shot Stamper - Swatches & Review

Monday, 30 October 2017

Anyone who stamps (or has tried stamping) knows how important a good stamper is.  Finding a stamper that works for you can be quite the challenge.  I personally have been through so many stampers over the years.  I've had firm stampers (they definitely don't work for my curved nails), ones that require priming (or simply don't pick up anything no matter what you do), sticky ones......really the list just goes on and on.  The newest, and definitely a favourite of mine is Hit The Bottle Double Shot Stamper.

The Double Shot Stamper looks quite similar to the Big Bling Stamper that people rave about (and yes I am one of those people) but the Double Shot stamper has one big difference - it has two heads!  Both heads are the same size, are quite squishy so are perfect for my curved nails and don't require any priming.

What is the benefit of having two heads you ask?  Well there are a few benefits.  If you make decals you automatically have two stamper heads.  You have the option of using the larger end for manis that require precise placement/layering and the smaller side for other sorts of manis.  Most simply, you can save one of the heads for when the other wears out (transparent stampers are quite fragile in comparison to other stampers).

This is one of the manis that I have done using the Double Shot Stamper.  For my base I used Color Club French Tips and stamped using Hit The Bottle High Voltage Violet, I Pink Therefore I Am and Orange You Excited.  Stamping design is from Lina Nail Art Supplies I Foil In Love 01 (which you can also get from Hit The Bottle - it's like a one stop stamping shop).

If you are in the market for a new (and very pretty) stamper then I highly recommend the Double Shot Stamper.  I haven't had any issues with the plates or polishes that I have used. This is definitely going to be a go to stamper for me.

The Double Shot Stamper is available now from Hit The Bottle.

Clear Jelly Stamper The Big Bling XL Stamper - Swatches & Review

Tuesday, 29 August 2017

I had initially planned on talking about the Big Bling XL Stamper from Clear Jelly Stamper in my blog post over Sunday, however I got completely forgot to mention it.  I know I have spoken about it here and there in other posts and on Instagram but I really think that this stamper needs it's own post.

I have heard so many people talk about the Big Bling stamper and how amazing it is.  Stupidly, I thought that really how could can it be?  Surely it's just the same as other clear stampers out there but just with a sparkly cap (side note: the cap is gorgeous! and so is the cute box the stamper comes in).  Well, stupid I am!  This thing is hands down my go to stamper now!  I have been using it for all of my recently manis and I am in love!  I have used it with different stamping polishes, different stamping plates and have had no issues.  It picks up and transfers beautifully!  It is easy to see through, but please don't let my poor attempts of layering stamps as a sign that this stamper isn't good - I just lack the skill for layering images.  It's something that I definitely want to improve at.

Here is a look at some of the manis I have done using the Big Bling XL Stamper.

Uberchic Beauty St Patrick's Day Mini Plate & Glitter Stampers - Swatches & Review

Thursday, 2 March 2017

Uberchic have recently released some new products.  There is one large plate (which I will have my swatches ad review coming very soon), the St Patrick's Day mini plate and a new glitter stamper.  I figure that seems St Patrick's Day is just around the corner it was the best place to start, and the stampers because they are just too pretty not to play with straight away - have I mentioned that I like sparkly things?  I really am one of those girls lol.  Right, before I get side tracked let's take a look at the goodies shall we?

I'm going to start with the stampers, simple because I used these for the manis I have done with the St Patrick's Day plate.  The new glitter stampers come with two XL glitter stamper heads (one purple and one pink - and both are so beautiful in person), a matte black matte cone holder and a credit card like scraper (see pic below).  The pink stamping head makes seeing darker polishes easier to see, while the purple head is great for lighter colours.

Not only are these stampers really pretty, they stamp beautifully as well.  They are of medium firmness and are quite sticky so pick up and transfer the designs well on my curved nails.  I really am quite impressed with these stampers.

I don't personally do the whole St Patrick's Day thing (in fact I am not too sure I have really done any St Patrick's Day manis before unless they have been part of a nail art challenge).  Anyway, for those of you who want some great images for you St Patrick's Day manis then this plate is perfect!  It has a great mix of cutesy images and some more sophisticated images.

I couldn't go past this first image.  I mean how cool is this design?  For my base I used Powder Perfect's Lancelot and stamped using Powder Perfect's Black Stamping design.  I used the pink stamping head for this mani as well.

This next mani is a little bit of a photo fail.  You can't really see the smoosh base that I did as my camera freaked out.  In person you can really see the different greens that I used.  How cute is this image though?  For my base I used China Glaze's Grass Is Lime Greener, Lime After Lime and Treble Maker.  Stamping polish is Bundle Monster's Annato Clay and again I used the pink stamping head for this mani.

As you can see the stamping heads working beautifully.  I am a big fan of these and can see me using them a lot.  I can't see me personally getting a lot of use out of the St Patrick's Day plate, but it's definitely a great plate to have for this time of year.

The St Patrick's Day Mini Stamping Plate and the Glitter Stamper are available now from Uberchic Beauty.

Pueen Cosmetics New HD Chunky Transparent Stamper & Scraper Set - Swatches & Review

Tuesday, 8 November 2016

Last week I received a surprise package from Pueen Cosmetics with two Chunky Transparent Stamper and Scraper Sets.  Now at the time I was extremely confused and thought they were the same that I had previously reviewed and currently used.  Then came the panic of me thinking that maybe I hadn't posted about those stampers.  I even double checked that I had actually done the post (you can see that post here).  I then thought that somehow Pueen must have know that my stamper had an unfortunate accident with acetone.  Fast forward to Saturday and I saw that the stampers I had received were in fact an new HD Chunky Transparent Stamper and that the base also is removable meaning you get an even clearer view of what and where you are stamping!

This stamper is AMAZING!  I thought the original transparent was a game changer but this one is honestly amazing.  It comes with a clear (not cloudy base) which you also have the option of removing to give you a crystal clear view.  I have been using mine with the base and just love it.  I personally would worry about too much fluff etc getting into the stamper to always have the base removed.  I have included a picture below to give you an idea of how they look with (shown on the right) and without (shown on the left).  This isn't 100% how they really look.  They are definitely a lot clearer in person.  I definitely recommend checking out some of the videos that are around so you can see what I am talking about.

Without base (left) vs with base (right)
The stamping head is soft and squishy and perfect for people like me with rounded nails.  And a huge bonus - it doesn't require any priming what so ever.  I have actually done quite a few manis with this stamper and have had zero issues.  You can check out some more manis I have done in yesterday's post.  For the mani below I used Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue (the original version), Powder Perfect's White Stamping Polish and Dance Legend's Green Stamping Polish.  Stamping images are from Pueen's Double Fun 01.  I have a review of this plate here.

I am seriously obsessed with this stamper!  Obsessed!  I love everything about it and think that everyone needs one!  I feel like I need to purchase multiple back ups for just in case these meet up with some acetone.

You can grab the New HD Chunky Transparent Stamper & Scraper Set from Pueen Cosmetics.

Pueen Chunky Transparent Stamper - Swatches & Review

Sunday, 12 June 2016

Transparent stampers are all the rage at the moment.  I actually own a couple, one has a long handle which does ok (I have trouble placing the images but that is a user issue not the stampers fault) and another large one with no holder (I struggle even more with that one).  I was very pleasantly surprised when a Pueen Chunky Transparent Stamper arrived at my doorstep for me to play with.

Image from Pueen
I am seriously in love with this stamper!  While it does need priming to begin with (which is really no big deal) it is so easy to use.  I have had minimal issues picking up and transferring images to my nails.  I say minimal because there was one plate that I did have issues with but I also tried my regular stamper and still had issues with it, so I think it is a fault with the plate.

Image from Pueen
As you can see from the picture above, this stamper doesn't have the traditional long handle which makes placing images central on the nail so much easier.  Even I can do it and I am the type of girl who struggles to draw a straight line with a ruler.

Seriously loving this stamper.  I still need some practice placing things centrally but I can see that this will be my new go to stamper for everything.  It is also great for those images that are a little shorter (or have little moon shape cut outs on them) when placing them on the nail.  This stamper really has opened up a whole new world for me.  I am so excited.

The Chunky Transparent Stamper is available from Pueen.

Have you tried a transparent stamper before?  What do you think of them?

Pueen Stamper And Scraper Set - Swatches & Review

Sunday, 12 July 2015

Over the years I have tried a few different stampers - some have worked for my curved nails, and others haven't.  Today I am going to share with you my thoughts on the Stamper and Scraper Set from Pueen.  This set comes with a double ended stamper and two scrapers.  For my review I did not prime the stamper in anyway and I used Konad Black and White polishes.

The Stamper
The stamper comes with two similar sized stampers (different from the usual large and small stampers that you typically see).  The yellow side features are round stamper and the purple side is rectangular.  Both are quite squishy so work well for curved nails like my own.  Noticed that these are quite sticky and oily (I pulled the ends out and sat them on paper.  There was oily marks left behind).

The Scrapers
Personally I have only ever used old credit cards/gift cards etc when stamper and I haven't ever tried "proper" scrapers before.  The two that are included in there set are smaller than a credit credit and are roughly them same thickness and are reasonably flexible.  The clearer scraper appears to be slightly more flexible than the other but not by a great deal.

The Test
I swatched both ends of the stamper with both of the scrapers to see the difference.  Personally, given how oily the stampers were I was honestly expecting them to not pick up anything.  To my surprise both sides picked up quite well.  The yellow side of my stamper is damaged (it has dints) so it doesn't pick up images perfectly were the dints are.  I personally prefer the opaque scraper as I found the clear stamper I needed to do a double scrap.  Not that it is a huge deal but it could cause issues if you are using a faster drying polish to stamp with.

Rectangle Stamper - Left stamp using opaque scraper, Right using clear scraper

Round Stamper - Left stamp using opaque scraper, Right using clear scraper

I actually had a little trouble when I did the mani below.  The rectangle side was a little hit and miss with picking up the image.  Normally I use a lint roller to clean my stamper but for this mani I had to use pure acetone between each nail.

Overall I was quite surprised with this stamper and scraper set.  I wasn't expecting them to work without initially priming each side, but the did.  I think they will need to be primed at some point though for more consistency with each use.  I can't say that the stamper will be my go to for everyday stamping but I will definitely be pulling it back out when I need multiple stampers (eg. when doing reverse stamping manis - which I still need to practice some more).

The Pueen Stamper and Scraper Set is available from the Pueen website for US$6.99.
