China Glaze Paint It Black Collection - Swatches & Review

Monday, 20 August 2018

You know when there is a new China Glaze Collection available I am going to grab it.  With the exception of the OMG! Flashback Collection.  I haven't grabbed it (yet) as I am still on the fence whether or not I need it.  What do you think?  Should I grab the OMG! Flashback Collection?  Let me know in the comments or on social media somewhere.  Anyway, there are two new collections from China Glaze and I have both of them.  Today I have this year's Halloween Collection.  Yes I know I am getting in super early but I have completed the swatches for this collection and have a few more swatches to do for the Ready To Wear (Fall) Collection.

Ash & Burn is a black base with gold/copper micro glitter.  I really like the glitter in this one and the formula is awesome.  I used one coat for my swatch.

Maliboo-Boo is a black linear holo. There isn't anything special about this polish.  It really is just your standard black holo.  Not that there is anything wrong with that.  Black holos are nice.  The formula is great and is opaque in two coats.

Night And Slay has a clear base that is packed with black glitter and silver holographic glitter in a few different sizes.  This one is seriously sparkly.  The formula is really thick, however it is still easy enough to work with.  I used three coats, however you can stop at two coats.  I found it to be a little too see through at the tips for my liking.

Pret-a-potion is a black micro glitter topper.  I really like this one - especially over China Glaze Chic Happens.  The formula is easy to work with and it has a great glitter payoff.  I used one coat over China Glaze Chic Happens.

Shadies & Gentlemen is a matte black.  Initially when I swatched this it split terribly on my nails.  Anyway I reswatched it without a base coat and it didn't split.  I'm not entirely sure why.  The formula of this one dries quite quickly so you need to move quickly and not apply polish in the same spot and it will then drag the polish off.  My swatch shows one coat.

Wicked Liquid is a blackened base with a golden/green shimmer.  I quite like this one.  There is something about the colour of it.  It's definitely perfect for the colder weather.  The formula is fantastic and you could easily get away with one coat.  My swatch shows two coats.

I think this is a great collection for Halloween.  I quite like that China Glaze have just gone with the black theme and have a variety of finishes.  My personal favourites are Pret-a-potion and Night And Slay.

What do you think of this collection?  Also don't forget to let me know if you would like me to swatch and review the OMG! Flashback Collection.

Clairestelle8 Halloween Nail Art Challenge - Round Up

Monday, 31 October 2016

Happy Halloween everyone!  I am still in shock at how close we are getting towards the end of 2016.  This year has just been flying by.  Anyway, this month I joined in on the Clairestelle8 Halloween Challenge over on Instagram.  Those of you who follow me on IG will have already seen all of these manis but I thought I would post them on my blog for a couple of reasons.  I like to look back on some of the past manis I have done and sometimes scrolling through IG can be a pain, maybe there are some of you guys you don't follow me on IG or maybe you have missed some of my posts so here they all are in one spot.  Plus there is the added bonus of more nail art for my blog.  Yay!

I really enjoyed doing this challenge.  Next month I am planning on taking a break from challenges on Instagram and focusing a little more on my blog.  As well as trying to get myself organized for the craziness that is the end of the year.  The next couple of months are definitely going to be busy but hopefully I can keep up.

What are some of your favorite nail art challenges?  I'd love to know if there are some that I am missing.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics Halloween Polishes 2012-2014 - Swatches & Review

Sunday, 30 October 2016

Today I am continuing on with swatching more of my polish collection (in particular the Halloween polishes).  I couldn't get this close to Halloween without swatching my beloved Femme Fatale Cosmetics polishes.  Some of the polishes I will show you today are the reason why I fell in love with the brand initial and spent years (literally!) collecting all of their polishes.  I have all of the Halloween polishes from 2012 to 2014 in today's post, well at least I think that is all of them.  Apologies if I have missed some or grabbed out the wrong polishes.  It's been a while since these were released.  If you are interested in seeing last years polish you can see that post here and I also have one of the polishes that was released this year.  You can check that post out here.  Just as a word of warning this post is quite picture heavy!  Right, enough babbling let's get into the polishes!

2012
Ghoulish Glow - One coat over China Glaze Be More Pacific.

Sinister Calling - One coat over OPI Do You Lilac It?

Tricky Treats - One coat over China Glaze Stoked To Be Soaked.

2013
Abuse The Ooze - Two coats over Essie Stencil Me In.

Wickerman Embers - Three coats and two coats of Seche Vite.

Witchful Thinking - One coat over OPI I Am What I Amethyst

2014
Mad Alchemist - Three coats

Time For Slime - Two coats over OPI Alpine Snow.

Witching Grimoire - Three coats.

Oh how I miss Femme Fatale's old school glitters.  I have so much love for all of these polishes.  If I had to pick my absolute favorites from these polishes I would say Wickerman Embers and Mad Alchemist, but really I do love them all.  They apply so well (with minimal if any fishing for glitters) and are just so unique.  They are unlike anything I own.

Did you pick up any of these polishes when they were available?
