The Indie Spectrum November 2019 Box - Swatches & Review

Tuesday, 26 November 2019

Happy Tuesday everyone!  I hope your day is going well.  I'm exhausted and my brain isn't co-operating with me.  I've actually started this post about ten times already but I'm really not sure how to start this post - so rambling it is.  Anyway, today  I have the new Indie Spectrum Box to share with you.  This box has a shade from Emily de Molly, Grace-full Nail Polish, Femme Fatale Cosmetics and Bettie Pain.  Let's just jump straight into the polishes...

Bettie Pain Silent Night is a blackened blue jelly filled with opalescent purple, blue, pink, gold and red flakies.  This is actually the first time I have tried any Bettie Pain and what a great polish for me to start with.  The colour and flakes are gorgeous!  The formula is good and easy enough to use.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Emily de Molly Hidden Meaning is a teal green base filled with green to purple shifting chrome flakes, blue iridescent flakes and a small amount of silver holographic flakes.  Love this one!  The colours are gorgeous and the formula is great.  I'm not sure this one photographs as nice as it is in person.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics Tinsel & Trinkets is a cherry pink sheer base, blue glow and assorted red holo and metallic glitters/shards.  It has been a loooooooong time since I have used a Femme Fatale polish and I have to say that not much has changed.  This polish is definitely on the sheer side and is patchy.  The glitters in this have a tendency to stick up and not lay flat (I actually had to take some of the flakes off because they were too chunky).  I used three coats for my swatch but please note that I did use extra polish on the tips of my nails to help build the colour up.  Also for top coat I used a really thick coat but as you can probably tell the glitter is still really lumpy.  I think I would have needed another coat or two of the top coat to smooth it out.  With all that said, I like the idea of this polish.  I just wished that it wasn't so chunky or sheer.

Grace-full Nail Polish Candy Cane Kiss is a white crelly with red holo microglitter, cherry red matter glitter and limi holo mirco glitter.  If this polish doesn't scream Christmas than I don't know what does.  I think it would be great with some nail art over it.  The formula is good and easy to use.  It was patchy on the first coat but does even out on the second coat (which is what I used for my swatch) but I question if I should have given it a third coat.

The Indie Spectrum October 2018 Box - Swatches & Review

Wednesday, 12 September 2018

Hello again!  It's another double post day for me because I have some more new things to share!  I do love sharing all the new things (and I am also having fun doing the 31 day challenge and doing lots of nail art - it feels like ages since I have had a good run of nail art).  Anyway, today I have the new Indie Spectrum Box to share with you.  The theme for this month's box is Australian Myths And Legends and the contributors are Grace-full Nail Polish, Lilypad Lacquer, Sayuri Nail Lacquer and Bella Belle Nail Couture.

Bella Belle Nail Couture The Lights is a gold holo with copper flakies.  This polish is inspired by Min Min lights.  Now I am not usually one for gold polishes but I really like this one.  I also really like the added flakes.  They are subtle but it gives the polish something a little extra.  The formula is good and applies evenly.  I used three coats for my swatch as I found that it was a little to sheer for my personal taste after two coats.

Grace-full Nail Polish Sacred Ground is a colour shifting chameleon that moves through pink, red, orange and gold.  This polish is inspired by the Curse Of Uluru.  This polish is definitely my favourite from this box.  It shifts so beautifully.  I did have a little trouble capturing all of the shifts on camera (we had perfect holo swatching weather - nothing but sunshine!).  The formula is great and is opaque in two coats.

Lilypad Lacquer Minka is a deep berry violet base with green/blue/purple/gold chameleon flakes and green/red/purple colour shifting shimmer.  This polish is inspired by the Minka bird.  This is quite an interesting polish.  I find that it looks different on the nail to what it looks in the bottle.  The green is so obvious in the bottle but completely disappears on the nail.  I tried different angles and lighting and I couldn't see it at all.  It is still a pretty polish (both on the nail and in the bottle).  The formula is great and is opaque in two coats.

Sayuri Nail Lacquer Picnic Of The Lost is a demure rosy-brown creme with a pink shift and copper/pink duochrome micro particles.  This polish is inspired by Picnic At Hanging Rock.  This polish isn't really my cup of tea but I do think it's unique and the shimmer in it is pretty.  The formula is great and is opaque in two coats.

I think there are definitely some really pretty polishes in this box.  My personal favourites would have to be Sacred Ground and Minka.

The October Box will be available 8pm Thursday 13th September until Thursday 20th September from The Indie Spectrum.  There will also be a live video in the Indie Spectrum Facebook Group 8pm AEST tomorrow (Thursday) if you are interested in checking that out.

The Indie Spectrum May 2018 Box - Swatches & Review

Thursday, 10 May 2018

Over the years there have been many different versions of indie boxes and once upon a time there was an Australian Indie Box.  I have zero clue what actually happened to it but never fear!  There is a brand new Indie Box on the market!  Grace-full Nail Polish and Emily de Molly have joined forces and created The Indie Spectrum.  At this stage The Indie Spectrum will be a bi-monthly box and will feature four polishes.  The theme for this first box is Australian TV Shows.  The polishes are created by Emily De Molly, Grace-full Nail Polish, MckFresh Nail Attire and Sayuri Nail Lacquer.

Emily de Molly I Say, Arthur... is a taupe subtle holo with gold and copper flakes.  This polish is inspired by the TV show Mother And Son.  I have never seen the TV show but I am a big fan of the polish.  I think the colour is fantastic and I love the added gold and copper flakes.  The formula is awesome and is opaque in two coats.

Grace-full Nail Polish No Nina Noooo! is a plum jelly filled with holo flakes.  This polish is inspired by the TV show Offspring.  Again, this is a TV show that I have never watched but I love the polish.  There is so much depth and sparkle!  It's one of those polish that you fall in love with as soon as you put it on.  The formula is fantastic and applies evenly.  My swatch shows two coats.

MckFresh Nail Attire Heart Break High is a teal (warm) to purple (cold) thermal with a rainbow of glitters in different sizes and colours.  This polish is inspired by the TV show Heart Break High.  Now this TV show I have actually seen....a very very long time ago but I don't recall a single thing about it.  This one transitions really well between its warm and cold states.  The formula is easy to use and doesn't require any fishing for the glitters.  It is quite sheer though.  I used four coats for my swatch.

Sayuri Nail Lacquer Look At Moi! is a bright magenta with strong sparks of aqua and scattered holo.  This polish is inspired by the TV show Kath And Kim.  This TV is one that I have seen bits and pieces of by not a whole episode - it's not really my type of show.  This polish though, is very me!  I love it!  The colour is gorgeous and so is the shimmer and holo.  The formula is great and applies evenly.  I used three coats for my swatch (only because I found it a little bit see though at the tips in direct light for me).

I am so excited about this first box!   I think the girls have done an amazing job with each of their polishes.  It's probably "wrong" to have favourites from this box but I do.  My personal favourites are Look At Moi and No Nina Nooo!  And I Say, Arthur... closely follows both of them.  I definitely recommend grabbing this first box.

The June 2018 Box will be available May 13th to May 20th from The Indie Spectrum.  This box is only available in Australia (the first few boxes will only be available in Australia to ensure that everything runs smoothly before opening up to international orders).

Make sure you follow The Indie Spectrum's Facebook Group and Instagram to keep up to date with the latest details on their boxes, sneak peeks of up coming themes, swatches and so much more!

Are you going to be grabbing the very first Indie Spectrum Box?
