Celestial Cosmetics The Stars Collection - Swatches & Review

Thursday, 10 August 2017

Celestial Cosmetics recently did a call out looking for people interesting in swatching for them.  Naturally I put my hand straight up and was lucky enough to be selected to swatch their August collection - The Stars.  This is definitely a very special collection as this collection was done in collaboration with the Celestial Stars Facebook Group members (if you aren't already a member you can join here).  Nicki started off by asking for inspiration pictures and then chose her top twelve from those pictures.  The Stars then voted to get the top six.  Once the polishes were created, Nicki then had The Stars suggest names which Nicki selected the names she found suited the polish and theme the best.  Thus, The Stars Collection was born!  How cool is that?  Anyway, let's take a look at these polishes.

Pale Moon Rising is a light blue base with red sparks, silver flakes and pink holo micro shards.  I love the glitters in this one.  I think they are so beautiful.  The formula is easy to use and it is opaque in three coats.  You can get away with two coats on shorter nails or if you don't mind having a slight visible nail line.

Point Of No Return is a black based holo with a sprinkle of red micro glitter.  I really like the added twist of the red glitters.  The formula is great and applies evenly.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Stars In Our Souls is a bright blue based jelly packed full of holo soft pink micro glitter, holo sapphire micro glitter and holo bright pink micro glitters.  This is definitely my favourite of this collection.  It's really pretty and sparkly.  It actually gives my 4th of July vibes - so for those of you who celebrate the 4th of July then definitely add this to your wishlist.  The formula is great and easy to use.  As it is a jelly it is a little on the sheer side.  My swatch shows three coats.

Sunrise On Venus is a pink base with a green shimmer, green sparks and light green micro glitter.  This one is quite interesting and definitely unique in my collection.  The formula is easy to use and it dries quite quickly.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Sunset Dreams is an orange linear holo with colour shifting flakes.  I am a big fan on flakies in a holo base, but sadly I am not a fan of the orange (that is just a personal preference though).  The formula is easy to use.  I used three coats for my swatch, however you can get away with two coats.

The Final Frontier is a dark blue based filled with violet sparks and silver micro glitter.  This is one of those polishes that calls for some Galaxy nail art on it.  Does anyone else think that?  I am a fan of this colour.  The formula is good and is opaque in two coats.

One of the things that I love about this collection is how it came about.  I think it is so cool that fans get to have some input into polish collections.  The collection itself is great and has a good mix of colours.  The formulas are all great and really easy to work with.  My personal favourite is definitely Stars In Our Souls, followed by The Final Frontier, Pale Moon Rising and Point Of No Return.

The Stars Collection is being released on Sunday 13th at 8am ACST on the Celestial Cosmetics Australian Site and on Saturday 12th at 6.30pm EST on the international site.

Celestial Cosmetics Aussie Indie Con 2017 Purchases - Swatches & Review

Thursday, 27 July 2017

I am so excited that I finally had a chance to play with the new Celestial Cosmetics polishes that I grabbed at Aussie Indie Con.  These are some seriously gorgeous polishes and I couldn't be more excited to add them to my ever growing polish collection.  Well actually, I am currently in the process of destashing a little.  I am running out of space in my drawers and I am not really wanting to buy yet another set of drawers, so it's destash time again.  Eek!

Cockle Bay is blue with a really strong green shimmer, golden-green flakes and some holo glitter.  This was one of the Aussie Indie Con exclusive polishes.  I think it is so pretty and the formula is good.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Sample 20 is a lucky dip polish that I picked up.  I am not a huge fan of this one so it has been put into my destash pile already.  The formula is good and it's easy to use.  My swatch shows three coats.

The Hungry Mile has a purple base with a blue-purple shimmer and is filled with flakes.  This is another Aussie Indie Con exclusive.  I love this polish.  It's absolutely stunning.  It is a little on the sheer side and does apply unevenly.  I used three coats for my swatch.

There's A Party In My Polish & You're Invited is a dark teal based linear holo packed full of colour shifting flakes.  No surprise that I absolutely love this one!  I really wish that there was some sunshine around when I wore this.  The formula is great and it applies evenly.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Twisted Selection has a purple base and blue shimmers.  I am a huge fan of these types of polishes.  I actually own a few variations of polish like this one.  The formula is easy to use, however it is on the sheer side.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Overall, I am so happy with my purchases that I made from Celestial Cosmetics.  They definitely have some great polishes.  The only on that I don't love is Sample 20.  It's not one that I would have purchased if I had seen it.

Grace-full Nail Polish & Celestial Cosmetics Coastal Christmas Collaboration Duo - Swatches & Review

Saturday, 19 November 2016

Christmas Collections are always super exciting for me.  I just love Christmas in general really, but Christmas polishes are usually extra pretty and special.  What is even more special is when brands do Christmas Collaborations.  Seriously who doesn't love when brands join together and create magic?  That is exactly what has happened with Grace-full Nail Polish and Celestial Cosmetics.  Now you may be wondering why it's a Coastal Christmas Duo, but that is simply because both brands are located near beaches and of course we are slowly entering into summer here in Australia.  Right now let's get into the pretties!

Deck The Dunes is a medium green linear holo with flecks of gold throughout and a sprinkling of iridescent glitters that shift from gold-red-green.   This is a really pretty green polish.  It applies really evenly and is so easy to use.  You could get away with one coat, however I used two coats for my swatch.

Riding The Yule Tide is a light blue linear holo with a slight green shimmer and silver and blue holo microglitter.  This one definitely reminds me of the ocean and mermaids.  Such a pretty colour and great formula.  My swatch is of two coats.

Celestial Cosmetics Unicorns & Rainbows Collection Plus March COTM - Swatches & Review

Wednesday, 27 April 2016

Before diving into the polishes I have to share with you today, I wanted to do a little "catch up" about my blog.  For a while now I have been doing four posts each week and I have been managing to stay on top of that but wanting to more.  Over the past couple of weeks I have been doing five posts and I have really been enjoying it.  So going forward I am going to continue to do five posts a week (no promises because life sometimes happens) and will hopefully be showing off some new brands to my blog.  When I say new brands I mean brands that I have not shared on my blog before, and hopefully some new brands to me as well.  Definitely let me know if there are more brands (both polish and stamping) you would like to see and I will check them out.  And if there is any particular posts you would like to see.  I am open to any and all suggestions.

Now onto today's post.  Celestial Cosmetics is a brand that I have tried but never really put on my blog.  I think I may have had maybe one or two posts featuring them early last year, so it's time they make a come back.  Today I have the Unicorns & Rainbows Collection as well as the March Colour Of The Month (COTM).

The Rainbows & Unicorns Collection includes five holographic polishes in various shades.  I found the formulas on each of these to be easy to use, however they were a little on the sheer side.  I used three coats for the majority of these polishes and still found that if I held my nails up to the light you could see through them.

Cakes & Rainbows is a gold linear holographic.  My swatch shows three coats.

Farting Rainbows is a cornflower blue linear holo with a violet overlay.  Super pretty and definitely on of my favorites in the collection.  The violet overlay is much more obvious in person than in my pictures.  My swatch shows three coats.

Rainbows & Unicorns Unite is a soft lilac linear holo with a blue overlay.  This is another favorite of mine.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Snow Unicorn is a frosty pearly grey linear holographic.  This one is really sheer on the first coat (especially in comparison to the others in the collection) and has visible brush strokes.  Personally I am not a huge fan of this one.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Unicorn Fields is a forest green linear holographic.  I imagine that this one is very popular with green lovers.  I found that this was the most opaque in the collection.  My swatch shows two coats.

Daffodil is a light, lavender toned pink holographic polish with silver shimmer and tiny opal-like flakes that shift from green to blue.  This was March's COTM and is no longer available on the Australian site, however it is still in stock on the international site.  The formula is easy to use and is opaque in three coats.  I did find that the flakies are a little hard on the nail.  They do stand out more in the bottle.

Overall I like this collection but I don't love them.  My favorites are Farting Rainbows (which is also a favorite of my daughters purely for the name), Rainbows & Unicorns Unite and Daffodil.

The Unicorns& Rainbows Collection is available from Celestial Cosmetics (Australia) and on their international site.
