August 2021 Favourites

Tuesday, 31 August 2021

Holy crap this month has come and gone super quickly.  I don't know if that's because I find lockdowns busier (although there is less running around) or if it's because I am already beginning to think about my daughter's birthday in November and Christmas.  Either way, August has flown by!  So like usual I am going to wrap up the month with all the things I have loved this month.

Mainstream Polishes
I didn't actually post any of the mainstream polishes that I have worn this month because they are all older ones which I am pretty sure I have posted on my blog at some point.  I just wanted to mention it because I have been loving digging back into the drawers and rediscovering some of my old favourites and things I have only just swatched (meaning it goes on four nails and then it's off).

Indie Polishes
It's not a favourites post without my two favourite indie brands - Emily de Molly and Grace-full Nail Polish.

Emily de Molly Fire & Ice (Polish Pick Up August 2021)
This is such an awesome and unique polish.  I really enjoyed wearing this one.

Emily de Molly August Releases
This month Hayley brought us some new colours in her matte white glitter polishes.  I have always loved these polishes and this month is no exception.

Emily de Molly August Limited Editions
As much as I love the regular release I am sooooo in love with the limited edition shades.  They are all gorgeous!  Definitely need to grab these out again soon.

Grace-full Nail Polish Beauty Of Nature (Polish Pick Up August 2021)
Grace-full Nail Polish made the best flakie polishes!  And this month's Polish Pick Up shade is no exception.  Truly stunning!

That brings us to the end of today's post.  Let me know the things you have been loving this month.

August 2019 Favourites / Update

Saturday, 31 August 2019

Oh August, you have been exceptionally busy for me but I am kind of happy to be done with you.  Not because you have been bad but more because September is when we officially move into our new house.  I am beyond excited for that!  I will actually get to have my very own polish room.  Previously my polishes have had to share a space but not anymore!  With the move happening next week I will most likely be a little MIA.  I do have some posts scheduled (mainly Polish Pick Up shades) next week and I am hoping to get a couple of other posts done but that will all come down to time.  I am also currently swatching my way through some new collections that will be released next month.  All I can say is prepare yourselves and your wallets!  I think that's all I really have to update you on.  Let's get into the favourites from August....

Nail Art
Sooooo it turns out that I haven't really done any nail art again this month.  Well that's not true.  I have done a little bit of nail art but I haven't shared it and in most cases I didn't even take pictures.  How bad is that?  Although in all honesty, it was kinda nice to take my bloggers hat off for a bit and just do nails for me for a change.  I will have some nail art coming in September.

Stamping Plates
I'm sure this goes without saying but I don't have any new stamping plates to add in today's post.  I have been using a few older Uberchic plates (mainly 6-01) and Maryanne Nails EYNails 01.  It's been nice to go back to revisit some of the my older plates.

Mainstream Polishes
There have been a couple of new releases from OPI and China Glaze among others but I haven't grabbed any yet.  Let me know if there are any new collections you would like me to review.

Indie Polishes
This month has definitely been all about the indie girls on my blog and I'm not made about it.  They really do make the best stuff!

Emily de Molly August Releases
If you saw my post about this month's release then you will already know how much I love all of these polishes.  Hayley is absolutely killing it this year!  I'm already dreading trying to have to narrow down my end of year favourites already (which apparently I need to do in four months!).

Emily de Molly Late Night Blooms (Polish Pick Up August 2019)
I am OBSESSED with this polish!  I'm really not sure what else I can say about it.  It was instant love.

Emily de Molly Limited Edition Cremes
Hayley releases cremes and you just know they are going to be amazing!  I seriously need Hayley to release cremes in every single shade possible.

Grace-full Nail Polish Hope Floats (Indie Love & Light August 2019)
Hope Floats is such a gorgeous polish and it raises money for a good cause.  What's not to love about that?

Hit The Bottle Gilded Beauty & Lightshow (Polish Pick Up August 2019)
HTB released two polishes this month.  Both are equally as gorgeous and a needed in everyone's collection.  Especially Lightshow.  I think a fine holo topper is an absolute must have!

That brings us to probably the shortest favourites post ever!  I'm pretty sure that September will be a little better...hopefully.  Now everyone keep your fingers crossed that I don't have any badly broken nails or any bad cuts etc on my hand during this move.

August 2018 Favourites

Friday, 31 August 2018

Ok so the end of August has definitely popped up a lot sooner than I was expecting.  I was thinking I had about another week until I needed to sit down and think about my favourites from this month.  Luckily I actually looked at the calendar and released that September is just around the corner (and hopefully so is Spring!).  Anyway, I am starting to ramble.  Let's take a look at all the things I have been loving this month.

Nail Art
This month has definitely seen a lot more swatches (and wearing plain manis) than nail art.  There isn't a particular reason for this (well apparently from having lots of new pretty polishes to swatch) other than I just haven't done much nail art.  Next month will be a different story though.

Stamping Plates
This month I have only played with three stamping plates.  One plate is a plate that I have had for a very long time.  I don't even recall when I purchased it.  I'm guessing it was earlier this year.  Anyway, I also had the pleasure of swatching two of Uberchic's new plates - Cultural Rhythm and Art Deco.

Uberchic Art Deco Stamping Plate
This is definitely my favourite of favourites of the two new plates.  I think the images are more my style and I can see me getting a lot of use out of this plate.

Uberchic Cultural Rhythm Stamping Plate
I went a little back and forth about whether I should include this plate in my favourites list.  Why?  Looking at the images I don't particularly love the designs, but for some strange reason I love them when I use them.  It's really quite bizarre.  Two of the three manis from my nail art favourites are from this plate!

Mainstream Polishes
I have played with quite a few mainstream polishes this month but sadly there isn't really many polishes that got my heart singing.

China Glaze Paint It Black Collection
I got in a little early with posting China Glaze Halloween's Collection but I am ok with that.  It gives you guys plenty of time to grab any of the polishes that you are interested in.  I really like the entirely collection and I think that it's really cool that China Glaze did an entirely black collection.  My absolute favourites from this collection are Night And Slay, and Pret-A-Potion (I particularly love it over CG Chic Happens).

Color Club Halo Crush Collection
In terms of favourite mainstream collections I have tried this month, the Color Club Halo Crush Collection is hands down my favourite.  The formulas are good, they are really sparkly and the colours are really nice.  My personal picks are Break It Up, I've Got A Crush, Piece Out and Shattered.

Indie Polishes
It probably comes as no surprise that indie polishes have made up most of my blog posts again this month.  There is always so many good things that come from the indie girls.

Emily de Molly 3 Words, One Song
3 Words, One Song is from this month's Polish Pick Up.  It's seriously stunning!  I don't think pictures do this polish justice.

Emily de Molly August Releases
Emily de Molly have done it again this month!  So many gorgeous polishes were released.  I am definitely going to have a really hard time narrowing down my favourites at the end of the year.  Anyway, my personal favourites from this release are The Maze And The Hightower, Dancing Through Sunday and Memories Of Midnight.

Emily de Molly May 2018 Limited Edition Polishes
These definitely took me way too long to get around to swatching but I am so glad that I finally did.  While I did like all four of the polishes, I particularly fell in love with LE98 and LE99.

Glam Polish Pixie Dust Collection
This month I had the pleasure of swatching the new Pixie Dust Collection from Glam Polish.  It's such a pretty collection.  My personal favourites are A Girl Worth Fighting For, Faith, Trust And A Little Bit Of Pixie Dust, Tale As Old As Time, Wish Upon A Star and I Just Can't Wait To Be King.

Grace-full Nail Polish Magical Muses
Magical Muse was released as part of this month's Polish Pick Up and I love it!  It's gorgeous in both it's cold and warm states.

Grace-full Nail Polish Shakin' All Joker
Grace-full have killed it this month with their releases!  Shakin' All Joker was part of the Hella Handmade Creations this month and it is gorgeous!  Pictures don't really do it justice.

Lilypad Lacquer Cuddle Team Leader
Yet another polish that was made as part of the Polish Pick Up, except this polish was actually released back in June.  I absolutely love this polish!  It's easily one of my favourite polishes that Lilypad have made!

piCture pOlish June Releases
I know I have said this before (and I'll probably keep on saying it) piCture pOlish is one of those brands that I never know which category to put it in.  They really aren't quite and indie brand but they aren't mainstream either.  Anyway, this month I finally got around to swatching the rest of the polishes that were released along side my collaboration shade.  My favourites from the release definitely Royal (which if you didn't know is my shade) and Princess.

That wraps up August! Now to begin the crazy month that is September....

August Favourites 2017

Thursday, 31 August 2017

Can you believe that it is the end of August?  I know I am in shock.  Probably not so much with how quickly this month has gone but more that we are about to enter September.  I'll get to that at the end of this post.  Let's talk about all the things that I have been loving in August!

Nail Art
I feel like this month has been full of nail art and nail art related products here on my blog.  Like usual, it means that I have a heap of nail art favourites again this month.  I am seriously going to struggle when it comes to doing my favourites at the end of the year.  Eek!

Stamping Plates
I have been trying my hardest to swatch my way through my "to swatch" pile of plates and I am happy to report that I am sooooo close to being able to say that I have swatched all of the plates that I purchased last year and this year.  There are only three plates to go!  Woohoo!

Lina Nail Art Supplies Let's Doodle 01
It's probably no surprise that this plate is here.  It's floral and has a heap of full sized images.  Love it! You can see how I used this plate here.

Lina Nail Art Supplies Feeling Shapely 03 and 09
The Feeling Shapely series of plates are still among my favourite plates that Lina creates.  There are just such create images on the plates.  You can see my swatches and review of Feeling Shapely 03 here and Feeling Shapely 09 here.

Stamping Polishes

Clear Jelly Stamper
I was lucky enough to be sent some stamping polishes from Clear Jelly Stamper and I am so impressed.  They come in small bottles, but you can definitely get a lot of manis out of them.  A little bit goes such a long way.  I will definitely be adding more to my collection.  You can see the post for these polishes here.

Stampers

Clear Jelly Stamper Big Bling XL Stamper
You can have all of the stamping plates and stamping polishes in the world but if you don't have a decent stamper then they are kinda pointless.  I have fallen head over heels for the Clear Jelly Stamper Big Bling XL Stamper.  It doesn't need priming, it's squishy and is yet to fail me.  You can pretty much guarantee that all stamping manis from me will be done with this stamper.

Indie Polishes
Indie polishes have definitely made up the bulk of my swatching posts this month, and I am more than ok with that.  These indie girls definitely make some of the most amazing polishes!

Celestial Cosmetics Stars In Our Souls
This month Celestial Cosmetics released the Stars Collection (you can see my swatches and review of this collection here) and there was one standard out for me - Stars In Out Souls.

Emily de Molly A Minute To Spare
I'm pretty sure that I end up with at least one Emily de Molly polish in my favourites posts.  Hayley definitely makes some of my all time favourite indie polishes!  I'm currently wearing one of the August releases and I am loving it!  But more about that in another post.

A Minute To Spare is the contribution to the Aussie Indie Con VIP bag and it's easily my one of my favourites from the bag.  You can see more swatches of this polish here.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics & Emily de Molly Wild Woodlands Collaboration
I only picked up three out of the four polishes from this collaboration and I love all of the ones that I have.  Such stunners.  You can find my original post here.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics
It only took me about 100 years to get around to swatching Femme Fatale's There & Back Again Collection (well part collection - I didn't buy them all).  While I like the majority of the ones that I purchased there were definitely a few standouts - Wandering Wizard, The Necromancer and My Precious.  You can see more swatches of these polishes here.

Grace-full Nail Polish Eldritch
This is another polish from the Aussie Indie Con VIP bag that I absolutely love!  Such a stunner.  You can see more pictures of this one and the others in the bag here if you are interested.

Grace-full Nail Polish Pink Lux and Lilac Light
I'm sure it's no surprise that these two polishes have ended up here in my favourites post.  You can find my original post with these polishes here.

Grace-full Nail Polish The Warren Sisters Collection
While I am a big fan of the Warren Sisters Collection there are three that have made it into my favourites - Book Of Shadows, Premonition and P3.  This collection is definitely worth checking out!  You can see my swatches and review here.

Powder Perfect Wonderful Tonight
This is the last polish from the Aussie Indie Con VIP bag that I loved!  So pretty!

Powder Perfect Perfect Storm & La Lune
Powder Perfect have a few polishes being released this month and Perfect Storm and La Lune are definitely my favourites.  Both are such great polishes!  You can see more swatches here.

Mainstream Polishes
It's definitely been a quite month on my blog for the mainstream brands and a heavy focus on the Fall collections (not that there is anything wrong with that).

China Glaze Street Regal Collection
If you saw this post then you know that I wasn't too excited for this collection when it first arrived but I very quickly changed my mind when I swatched them.  The formulas across this collection are amazing!  Definitely a fantastic fall collection worth checking out - you can find my original post here.

Orly November Fog and Velvet Kaleidoscope
I have some serious love for both November Fog and Velvet Kaleidoscope from the Velvet Dream Collection.  You can see the original post of this collection here.

That rounds up all of my favourites for August.  I am seriously going to struggle picking my favourites for the entire year.  Maybe I should start trying to work those out now?  Lol.

Before I go, I wanted to talk about what is going to be happening here on my blog in September.  If you have been following me on Instagram for the last few years then you will know that I have participated in the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge for the last three years.  I am definitely going to be doing it again this year because it's a challenge that I quite enjoy doing.  This time though, I will be posting it here daily on my blog!  I will still be doing some swatches and reviews (as well as the other challenges I normally do) throughout September so there will be some days I will have two posts instead of one!  It's definitely going to be quite the challenge but I am excited to give it a go!  Who else is joining in on this challenge?  Here are the prompts:

I hope to see lots of you guys join in the fun next month!
