OPI Hello Kitty Collection - Swatches & Review

She's a global symbol of friendship and fun.
She made cuteness a culture in Japan and a fashion imperative everywhere.
Hello Kitty is a pop icon with fans ranging from four to forever, and is OPI's newest muse.

The OPI Hello Kitty Collection celebrates all things happy, cute, colourful and sweet with twelve limited edition lacquers.  Now these have been in stores for a little while now, but honestly how could I pass up swatching them?  I have used some in some nail art on Instagram last year but I just couldn't leave it as that.  I need the cuteness on my blog too.

I was one of the luckiest people in the world to not only be sent the full OPI Hello Kitty Collection, but I also received the cutest beauty case/display to keep them in.  Normally I keep all of my polishes in Alex drawers from Ikea (with the exception of the polishes that sit in a couple of acrylic racks which are the things that I need or want to swatch), but this collection I simply can't hide away in the drawers.  I mean, look how cute the case is?

5 Apples Tall is a red creme.  The formula is easy to use and applies really evenly.  There is still a very slight visible nail line (I assume most people would stop at two coats) but I used three coats for my swatch.

Charmmy & Sugar is a super sparkly pink/purple shimmery base with various coloured hex glitters.  This is the first polish that I saw and I knew I had to use it immediately.  It doesn't photograph as nice as it is person that's for sure.  The formula is great and easy to work with.  The first time I wore it alone (see the nail art picture to see this polish on its own) and found that it needed four coats to be opaque.  For my swatch I used one coat over OPI Super Cute In Pink.  I seriously love these two polishes together.

Kitty White is a shimmery white.  I'm a little on the fence with this one.  I think I like it on the nails, but it is quite sheer.  I used four coats for my swatch and you can still see a slight nail line (my pet hate).  It is definitely nicer looking in person than in pictures.

Let's Be Friends! is a light white based baby pink creme.  Stunning colour.  I personally love it.  It is actually more pink than it looks in my picture but my camera wanted to wash it out.  This polish does apply slightly uneven and needs three coats to even out.

Look At My Bow! is a light blue toned pink.  No surprise that I love this one too.  The formula is slightly uneven on the first coat but evens out on the second coat.

My Pal Joey is a blue creme.  This one reminds me a little of Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue (they aren't dupes or even that close in colour really - I checked).  The formula is great and is opaque in two coats.

My Twin Mimmy is a yellow creme.  This one applies unevenly and needed three coats to even out.

Never Have Too Many Friends is a black creme.  You can never have too many black polishes in my opinion.  Black is one of my most used polishes ever.  The formula of this one was great.  It's close to being a one coater.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Small + Cute = ♥ is a light bubble gum pink.  Such a pretty pink.  The formula of this one is a little sheer and it does apply unevenly.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Spoken From The Heart is a coral creme.  This has a jelly like formula to it so is a little see through.  I used three coats for my swatch and you can still see very slight nail line.

Starry-Eyed For Dear Daniel is a pink glitter.  Super pretty and girl.  I love it.  The formula is great.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Super Cute In Pink is described as a pink but to me it looks more purple.  Either way, I love this colour.  It's stunning.  The formula is kinda jelly like so needed three coats to be opaque.

If you couldn't have guessed it, I love this collection.  The colours are so pretty and super girly, and those bottles are adorable.  My personal favorites from this collection are Let's Be Friends, Look At My Bow!, Small + Cute = ♥, Spoken From The Heart, Super Cute In Pink, Charmmy & Sugar and Starry-Eyed For Dear Daniel.

The OPI Hello Kitty Collection is available now from Myer, David Jones and professional salon.

What do you think of this collection?  Have you picked up any of the polishes?

    1. I think it is by far the most adorable collection I own. And I am a fan of pinks which is a huge plus. Being a green lover, you may not be as big a fan of this collection though.

    2. While green is my favorite color and my biggest color collection in my polish stash it isn't the one I wear the most. Most people prefer pinks and purples on their nails.

    3. I'm guilty of the pinks and purples on my nails. Purples in particular would have to be the most dominant colour in my collection....I think. I do love all the other colours though. I really am not too fussy when it comes to polishes (as long as they aren't too sheer - I don't like having a visible nail line)
