Emily de Molly January 2019 Releases - Swatches & Review

We are officially one week into the new year.  Hopefully it has been treating you well so far.  I have discovered that this is going to be one crazy busy year for me, but luckily I have shiny things like this month's release from Emily de Molly.  I actually think a few of these would look really cool mattified too.  I wish I had thought about that when I was swatching these.  Anyway, I'm getting side tracked a little here.  Let's take a look at Emily de Molly's first release for 2019.  Some of these are limited but I will make note of which ones throughout this post.

Birthday Project is a medium blue crelly with copper and iridescent blue glitters.  I love this one!  The colour is stunning, plus I am always a big fan of crellies.  They remind me of old school indies which really got my diving into the indie world.  The formulas of this one is great.  It applies evenly and no fishing or placement is required for the glitter.  My swatch shows two coats.   Birthday Project is limited to one large batch.

Heated Discussions is a dark red base with gold and pink shimmers and an orange/red magnetic effect.  I'm not really a big red fan so this one isn't a favourite of mine but I do think it has a cool magnetic effect.  The formula is fantastic and applies evenly.  If you were wearing this polish without the magnetic effect you could easily get away with one coat.  For my swatch I used two coats.  This polish is also limited to one large batch.

Leave It To Me is a purple base with pink to copper shimmer and metallic silver flakes.  I love how simple but so pretty this polish is.  The formula is fantastic and is opaque in two coats.

Midnight Mermaid is a dark blue with green shimmer and blue iridescent flakes.  This polish is sooooo interesting.  In some lights it looks completely blue and other lights you can see more green.  You know a polish is good if you keep looking at your nails.  This is one of those polishes.  The formula is awesome and opaque in two coats.

Opposite Order is a brown base with turquoise blue to purple foil shifting shimmer.  I love this one too!  Although I'm sure that is probably no surprise.  I do love shifty polishes.  The brown doesn't show up a lot of the time (and I am not mad about that) but you can see it depending on your lighting.  The formula is easy to use and applies evenly.  For my swatch I used two coats.

Revolving Door is a dark brown holo with copper flakes, copper micro glitters and a gold/copper magnetic effect.  Now looking at my pictures you can't see the magnetic effect too well.  I promise it was there, but it kinda disappeared a little.  I'm really not sure what happened.  Perhaps I didn't hold the magnet in place long enough?  All that being said I quite like the look.  I particularly like the gold/copper.  The formula is great and opaque in two coats.

Trips Abroad is a bright sunflower yellow/orange with iridescent flakies and gold micro glitters.  It's exceptionally rare for me to say something like this when it comes to Emily de Molly polishes but I'm not a fan of this one.  I'm sure there will be heaps of you guys who will love it but this one isn't my cup of tea.  It certainly is a very unique polish.  The formula is easy to use and while most people would stop at two coats, I did use three coats for my swatch as I found it a little too see through at the tips for my personal taste.

Vexed is a light brown holo with green to pink foil type shimmer and silver micro glitters.  Now this one I am a big fan of.  It's so pretty, both the base colour and the shimmer.  The formula is good and applies evenly.  My swatch shows two coats, although I do question it a little if I needed a third coat  but that is just me being fussy.

Emily de Molly are definitely off to a great start for 2019.  I am beyond excited to see what the rest of the year looks like.  My personal favourites from this release are Birthday Project, Opposite Order and Leave It To Me, followed closely by Midnight Mermaid and Vexed.

The January releases will be available on Wednesday 9th January at 10am AEDT from Emily de Molly's Australian site and on Tuesday 8th January at 6pm EST on the international site.
