Models Own Colour Chrome Collection - Swatches & Review

Models Own have launched in Australia!  I actually purchased my first Models Own from the Models Own site a number of years ago now, but then they stopped shipping to Australia (I haven't checked if they ship here again now) but never fear - you can now purchase Models Own in Priceline.  Woohoo!  At this stage, their is a big range of make up products and there is one nail polish collection - the Colour Chrome Collection.  This collection have seven polishes, which I have to share with you today.

Chrome Cerise is a pink chrome.  I quite like the colour of this one, however as you can see it does have visible brush stokes.  It also looks like the polish isn't mixed properly.  I did try giving it a good shake but it didn't appear to make any difference.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Chrome Copper is a copper chrome.  This one was quite a strange one on me.  It did slide off my nails slightly (I have quite a strong curve to my nails in case you didn't you).  I was able to control it for the most part, except for on my index finger.  I have no clue why but it kept doing the weirdest thing.  I'm not even sure how I can describe it.  I ended up having to reswatch this a couple of times to get a decent look.  You can see where the polish had moved to on my index finger after the first coat.  My swatch shows two coats.

Chrome Gold is a gold chrome.  This one also pooled on me, however not as bad as the Copper did.  This one does have very visible brush strokes when wet but they do even as it dries.  My swatch shows two coats.

Chrome Indigo is a blue chrome.  This is another colour that I really like.  In terms of formula it is the same as Chrome Cerise.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Chrome Mauve is a purple chrome.  I am a fan of this colour too but again the formula is quite streaky.  My swatch shows two coats.

Chrome Red is a pink toned red chrome.  This one definitely leans more towards the pink family than red.  It is a nice colour but I was hoping it would actually be more red like the bottle.  The formula of this one seems to be more even than the others in this collection.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Chrome Silver is a silver chrome.  Careful application is needed with this one as it drags and pulls the polish off as you apply it.  Definitely try not to go over the same spot multiple times.  This one also bubbled on me.  I have no clue why.  My swatch shows two coats.

I'm not going to lie, I went into swatching these polishes with high hopes.  I was hoping that they would look similar to the bottles' packaging.  Sadly that wasn't quite the case.  They are quite shiny, however they all have visible brush strokes.  They also aren't quite as pigmented as say a China Glaze metallic polish so they don't stamp the greatest either.  In terms of colours, I think there is a good range of colours which would probably be good for nail art (not stamping).  I am interested to see if others had the same issues with pooling and bubbling like I did.  My personal picks from this collection are Chrome Cerise, Chrome Indigo and Chrome Mauve.

The Colour Chrome Collection is available now from Priceline.

  1. Hi,
I've only just swatched my set.
Disappointed by the red, which isn't really red.
The copper and rose also pretty similar.
Does look a gorgeous set in bottles but not quite as good as hoped in colour.
Chrome grey, was also very purple and not like its grey bottle at all.
Think I'll be rehoming a few of the set.
Thx for this review ! :-)
