China Glaze Seas And Greetings Collection - Swatches & Review

Today I have another Holiday Collection to share with you.  This time I have China Glaze's Seas And Greetings Collection.  I was so excited when I saw this collection pop up as it's not what I would call a traditional Holiday collection at all, plus it isn't full of winter colours.  That may seem like an odd comment for most people but here in Australia Christmas is in Summer so wearing dark colours just seems a little odd.  Anyway, let's get into the swatches!

Eat, Pink, Be Merry is described as a rosy pink shimmer.  This one is quite pretty, however it is very sheer and applies uneven.  I would definitely use it over a base colour next time.  My swatch shows three coats, although it probably could do with a forth coat.

Good Tide-ings is described as a cool blue lavender.  This colour is absolutely stunning and the formula is amazing!  It applies like a dream and is a one coater!  I used two coats for my swatch (only because I accidentally knocked one of my nails).

Joy To The Waves is described as a shimmering serenity blue.  Nice colour, but a little on the sheer side.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Let's Shell-ebrate is a purple and gold glitter topper.   I say it's a topper because I really don't think it could be opaque, unless you sponge it on.  I think this is a really pretty glitter.  I'm not sure I am loving it over the base colour I chose though.  I used one coat over China Glaze Sand In My Mistletoes.

Partridge In A Palm Tree is described as a matte aquaa green.  Now this one is by far the most disappointing polish is this collection, and one that I was excited to try.  When I get polishes I always swatch them on swatch sticks.  I noticed when I swatched this one that it cracked on the stick.  At the time I wasn't concerned.  I just assumed that the swatch stick is what caused it.  Sadly, that was not the case at all.  On the first coat, three out of four of my nails had cracks in the polish.  The second coat covered most of the cracks except for on my ring finger.  There was no saving this nail at all.  I used a third coat in hopes that would fix it.  Nope.  It made it worse.   The formula of this polish is also horrid.  You need to use thicker coats as the polish dries super quick and drags across the nail.  It's definitely a polish I would skip over, which is sad because it really is a pretty colour, especially matte.  My swatch shows three coats.

Sand In My Mistletoes is a peachy nude creme.  I quite like this polish. It's nice and fresh and I think it would look great with a tan.  This one does applies unevenly on the first coat, however evens out on the second coat.

Seas And Greetings  is described as an iridescent purple.  Now this one is so stunning in the bottle, however I was a little disappointed with it.  I think I had such high hopes for it, but it's quite sheer.  I used three coats for my swatch and there is still a visible nail line in direct light.

Snow Way! is described as an iridescent white shimmer.  I really like this one.  It is a little sheer and applies unevenly, however I think the colour makes up for that.  My swatch shows three coats.

The More The Berrier is a metallic magenta.  Such a pretty colour.  This is definitely more along the lines of what you would usually see in a Holiday collection.  The formula is great and easy to use.  While you can get away with one coat, I used two for my swatch.

Tis The Sea-Sun is a coral creme.  This one doesn't overly excite me to be honest, but it is a good colour with an easy to use formula.  My swatch shows two coats.

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Starfish is a gold and green glitter.  China Glaze describes this as a holographic polish but I'm not seeing any forms of holo in there.  Maybe I am blind?  Anyway, I think this one is absolutely stunning.  It's easy to use and has a great glitter payoff.  My swatch shows two coats over China Glaze For Audrey.

Warm Wishes is described as a watermelon creme.  Again, this is one that doesn't overly excite me.  It's a nice colour and has a good formula.  I used two coats for my swatch.

I have mixed feelings about this collection.  I love that China Glaze haven't done the traditional Holiday colours or wintery tones and have gone for a slightly summery theme, however the formulas are mostly on the sheer side which I am not a fan of.  The colours aren't overly exciting either.  My personal favorite from this collection is Good Tide-ings.  I think this is a must have, followed by Twinkle, Twinkle Little Starfish.

What do you think of this collection for the Holiday season?

  1. I am looking for a new favorite mainstream polish and I was hoping perhaps China Glaze but now I am not sure due to inconsistencies. They looked so promising though!!

    1. Honestly I think to find consistency in a mainstream brand would be close to impossible. I think the most consistent brand I own is Emily de Molly and she is indie. My favorite mainstream brands would easily be OPI and CG but neither of those brands are consistent

    2. That green with the crack was my favorite color and to see that crack was disappointing.

    3. It would have easily been a favorite of mine too. The cracks are horrible and there was absolutely nothing I could do to fix it. Plus the formula is horrid. I'm really not sure how or why CG released it. Surely someone would have tested it?

  2. I had the same cracking issue with Partridge in a Palm Tree, kind of relieved I was not the only one! I don't understand how they could release a great matte formula like Combat Blue-ts and then follow it up with that mess :[

    1. Oh I'm sorry you had the same issues too Ashley. Although I am glad that it's not just me. You are 100% correct. I don't understand how they could release this mess! I did see a post on their IG and there was no cracking so maybe it's not all of the polishes that do it and we just got a bad batch or something? Or maybe someone is great with photoshop and is pretending that the cracks never happened.

  3. I really like Twinkle, Twinkle little starfish and Lets Shell-ebrate. That is so disappointing about that beautiful green, I was thinking of getting it. But me and matte nail polishes just don't mix well.

    1. They really are pretty aren't they? And you are correct. That matte polish is soooooo disappointing. Definitely skip over it. It's not worth the money. Invest in a good matte top coat and a shade similar to this one and you'll have a winning combination
