China Glaze Rebel Collection - Swatches & Review

China Glaze have recently released the Rebel Collection for Fall 2016.  Now I say recently but I have a feeling that these may have been around for a little bit.  I know that I have had these polishes sitting in my polish racks for quite some time.  Sadly I just haven't had the time to swatch them.  Until now that is.  So let's take a look before I start rambling.

Blue-Ya! is described as a sapphire blue shimmer.  This one is easy to use and the shimmer is quite pretty.  Sadly I think it looks better in the bottle than it does on the nail.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Combat Blue-ts is a matte blue.  The formula of this one is a little tricky to work with.  It dries quite quickly so you need to work fast and not go over the same spot multiple times as the polish just drags off the nails.  It also shows every flaw in your nails and application.  That being said I think it is a great colour and I quite like it.  My swatch shows two coats.  The first picture is with no top coat and the second picture is with top coat.

Don't Mesh With Me is described as a lavender shimmer.  I think this is such a pretty polish.  It is quite sheer so for me personally I don't think I could wear it on its on.  For my swatch I used one coat over CG Combat Blue-ts.

Dope Taupe is an almond taupe creme.  This polish is absolutely gorgeous and hands down my favorite polish of this collection.  The formula is awesome.  It applies like a dream and the colour is stunning.  I received lots of compliments when I wore this one.  My swatch shows two coats.

Fresh Prince-ss is a baby doll pink creme.  Like with most light polishes, this one does apply unevenlyIt is a really pretty colour.  For my swatch I used three coats.

Heroine Chic is described as a sultry chocolate creme with flecks of red shimmer.  I am a fan of this colour.  It is so interesting and pretty.  This polish does apply a little unevenly on the first coat but evens out on the second.

Holo At Ya Girl is described as green-gold holographic glitter.  Personally I don't see anything holographic in this one but it is really pretty.  Again, this is one that doesn't seem as though it will build up to be opaque but it is great for layering.  I used one coat over Jagged Little Teal.

Jagged Little Teal is a teal creme.  The formula of this one is fantastic.  It applies so evenly and you could easily get away with one coat.  I did use to coats for my swatch.

Pearl Jammin' is described as a chic gray opalescent.  This is a gorgeous polish!  It's easy to use but it is a little on the sheer side.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Purple Fiction is described as a royal metallic plum.  Another colour I really like which I am sure is no surprise.  The formula is great and is opaque in two coats.

Teen Spirit is described as a deep inky blue-black with metallic flecks.  I found this one to be quite disappointing.  It looks so pretty in the bottle but on the nail it is so dark.  The formula is awesome.  My swatch shows one coat.

Y'all Red-y For This? is a red shimmer.  I really like the shimmer in this one.   It looks more pink than a red.  The formula is good.  It applies evenly and is opaque in two coats.

Overall I quite like this collection.  It really is a mixed bag with the formulas, colours and finishes so really there is something for everyone.  There are so many that I really like but my top two from this collection would have to be Dope Taupe and Pearl Jammin'.

Which ones are your favorite?

  1. I actually am kind of meh about this collection. They are a few pretty ones but as whole nothing grand for me. The names are quite fun though.

    1. I love the names too. I think a lot of brands are really good with naming polishes.
