Orly Pacific Coast Highway Collection - Comparisons

As promised, I am back with some comparisons of the new Orly Pacific Coast Highway Collection.  If you are just after some plain swatches and a review of this collection you can find that here.  As for the comparisons, this collection really surprised me.  I honestly thought there would be quite a few dupes and definitely more polishes that were close enough to do actual swatch comparisons.  This wasn't the case.  I only found two polishes in my collection that were similar enough in the bottles to do comparisons of.  I have included some bottle shots of polishes that were requested.

Orly Life's A Beach vs China Glaze Red-y To Rave
These two definitely aren't dupes.  Life's A Beach is more orange and is much much brighter than Red-y To Rave.  Both have good formulas and are opaque in two coats.

Orly Scenic Route vs China Glaze That's Shore Bright
These aren't dupes but they are close enough that I would say you don't need both.  That's Shore Bright is slightly darker, both have good formulas and are opaque in two coats.  Now I should note, my bottle of That's Shore Bright is rather old and is nearly completely empty (it's one of my favorite polishes).  I have purchased a back up bottle, however it is a completely different purple.  I'm not sure if it is labelled wrong or if there has been a colour change with this polish.

Orly Road Trippin' vs Orly Glowstick
Not that you can really tell in this picture but Glowstick is much brighter and a different sort of yellow.

Orly Paradise Cove vs Orly Be Daring
No dupes.

Orly Put The Top Down vs Orly Beach Cruiser
No dupes.

China Glaze Neon & On & On vs Orly Put The Top Down vs China Glaze Thistle Do Nicely
Definitely no dupes here.  The China Glaze polishes make Put The Top Down look straight up pink with no peachy tones.

And there you have it.  A super pretty collection which I would say is safe to grab without running into dupes.  That's not to say there isn't any dupes out there but I definitely don't own any.  The only one I would say you don't need to grab is Scenic Route if you already own That's Shore Bright.  Although, I love both so I will be hunting down the original That's Shore Bright polish.  Wish me luck on that one.

  2. I have the never version of China Glaze's That's Shore Bright and it's nothing like the Orly's Scenic Routen - TSB is a muted pink whilst SR is neon lavender with slight pink undertones. So if you have the newer TBS, you also need SR! :)

    1. I have both the original version of That's Shore Bright and the newer one, which is completely different. I don't like it as much as the original. It's not as bright. :( I completely agree with you, if you have the newer TSB then you need SR as well. If you have the original TSB then having SR isn't a necessity IMO :)
