Powder Perfect Quest For Paradise Collection Part II - Swatches & Review

Wednesday, 18 November 2015

Sail the seven seas and search for your polish paradise!

Back in September Powder Perfect released the Quest For Paradise Collection (you can see my swatches and review here) and now the they are back with Part II.  I loved Part I of this collection, and I love Part II just as much.  The colours are great and the formulas are awesome.  Now let's dive in shall we?  Like with my review of Part I I am also going to be sharing with you the press release descriptions just because I love them. Right now onto to the polishes.

Abandoning your ship isn't as bad if you are wearing a smashing dark blue shimmer polish.

Abandon Ship is simply a dark blue shimmer polish, and yes it is totally worth abandoning your ship for.  It's such a stunning colour.  I used two coats for my swatch but you could get away with using only one coat for this polish.

What will you discover this sailing season?

Discovery is a bold and bright shimmery purple.  Now I am probably going to surprise you all and tell you that I love this one.  Surprised?  No I didn't think so.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Legend says....You'd better find out what the locals say before you sail these treacherous waters

Legend says... is a soft mint creme.  Beautiful colour and opaque in two coats.

Do you dream of a new horizon?  Let us help your dreams become a reality

New Horizons is a gorgeous metallic aqua shade.  So pretty and you could get away with one coat.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Your parrot will be squawking 'pieces of eight, pieces of eight' when you unearth this polish

Pieces Of Eight is a metallic champagne-silver polish.  Now this polish is a one coater.  Yep.  Just one coat.  That is all I used for my swatch.

Don't get into a stoush of whataboutery with the captain!

Whataboutery is a fluorescent pink creme. It's bright pink, the formula is awesome and it doesn't need a white base?  Yes please.  I am so in love with this one.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box
What do you think about these shades?  I am loving them all but my personal favorites if I had to pick are Whataboutery, Discovery and Abandon Ship.

Pre-orders for the Quest For Paradise Part II collection open on November 18th at 10am on the Powder Perfect site and close November 21st.

Emily de Molly September 2015 Releases - Swatches & Review

Tuesday, 17 November 2015

It appears that I am a little behind in swatching some pretties that I have ordered in the last couple of months.  Time is just going by so quickly at the moment, it's just crazy.  I will hopefully catch up soon enough.  Anyway, as you can tell by the title I have the six polishes that Emily de Molly released back in September.  Unfortunately when I swatched these, there was no sunshine so I have had to take some pics using my flash.  If anyone has some magical lightning options that works indoors for holos then definitely let me know.  I have tried a few options and I am having no luck.

Future Royal? is a bright purple jelly with copper shimmer and iridescent, colour shifting flakies.  This one is definitely a really pretty polish and the formula is easy to work with.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Modern Luster is a bright pink/watermelon jelly with copper shimmer and lime gold sparks.  Another stunning polish that I wish I could capture in sunlight.  Formula is great and easy to use.  I used three coats for my swatch.

New Life is a medium green holo with gold to green shifting shimmer.  This is September's COTM which is no longer available on the Emily de Molly Australian site but it is still available via Color4Nails if you are interested.  Like usual, the formula is great and easy to use.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Perfect Oasis is a bright blue strong holo.  Absolutely stunning.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Reflection is a turquoise blue with a subtle holo.  I feel like I am repeating myself a little with these but they really are pretty and they have great formulas.  I used two coats for my swatch.

The Glaring is a dark blue jelly with a strong green shimmer and silver holographic glitter.  I love this one.  So easy to use and so pretty.  You can get away with two coats on this one if you don't mind a slight visible nail line, but I used three coats for my swatch.

How stunning are these polishes?  I'm seriously loving all of the polishes that Emily de Molly are releasing at the moment.  Now just to have some more time in the day to swatch them all.  I am hoping to get a chance to swatch the October releases soon....and then November polishes are being released at the end of this week, which I am so excited about.

Powder Perfect Christmas 2015 Duo - Swatches & Review

Friday, 13 November 2015

Have I mentioned that Christmas polishes are starting to be released at the moment?  I don't know about you but I love Christmas polishes!  Yesterday I shared with you the Christmas Collaboration Duo from Powder Perfect and Grace-full Nail Polish and today I have the duo that Powder Perfect is releasing this year.  I actually swatched these a little while ago and I still love them.  They are so pretty.

Prettiest Sight To See 2015 has a white crelly base and is filled with a mixture of pink, purple and metallic glitters of various shapes and sizes.  If you think that this polish looks familiar than you are correct.  This polish is a re-release from last year.  The formula is the same and the labels will be marked 2015.  This is such a pretty polish and the formula is easy to use and there is no fishing for glitters.  I used two coats for my swatch.

The Stars is updated version of 2014's 'The Stars Are Brightly Shining'.  I own both and both are equally as beautiful and worth having in everyone's collections.  The Stars is easy to work with although it is slightly runny so you will need to be careful of any excess drips from the brush.  I think that this polish is an amazing base for some holiday inspired nail art.  I used two coats for my swatch.

This duo is available for preorder on November 14th at 10am from Powder Perfect.  Don't forget that the Collaboration duo is also available at the same time so you can save on postage.

Powder Perfect & Grace-Full Nail Polish Christmas Duo - Swatches & Review

Thursday, 12 November 2015

Christmas polishes are rolling out quick and fast and personally I am so excited for them all.  I love everything Christmas!  Two of my favorite brands have teamed up again to bring us a Christmas Duo (both of the brand's owners are huge Christmas fans as well).  So without further ado, let's get into the pictures.

Exuberant Elf is a bright elf green with silver flakes throughout and a pop of sparkle with a scattering of silver holo microglitter.  Formula is super easy to work with and definitely makes for some cute elf nail art.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Sophisticated Santa is a decadent warm red holographic polish that shimmers with gold and silver highlights.  This polish really has a glow about it in the sunlight.  The formula is great and easy to work with.  I used two coats for my swatch.

I love that Powder Perfect and Grace-full Nail Polish have teamed up to create this Christmas duo. These are both perfect colours for the holiday season.

This duo will be available as a preorder from Powder Perfect and Grace-full Nail Polish.  Preorders will open at 10am on 14th November and go until midnight 17th November.  There will also be a 10% discount during the preorder (definitely a great time to grab them).  There will also be limited quantities released on 21st November.

OPI Starlight Collection - Swatches & Review

Wednesday, 11 November 2015

It's that magical time of year again when OPI release their holiday collection.  The holiday collections hold a special place in my heart because it was OPI's 2010 Burlesque Collection that really kick started my love for OPI and really all polishes since then.  Anyway, enough about previous years collections, lets get into this year.  OPI have released a twelve polish collection here in Australia and it is already out in stores (well at least it is at my local Myer store).  Now for you international readers, I believe the Starlight Collection actually has eighteen polishes in total so you may need to look for swatches of those elsewhere because I don't have them.

Ce-less-tial Is More is described as a pink super glitter.  I'm not entirely sure what a super glitter is but I did find this one extra textured compared to a regular glitter polish.  The formula of this one is a little on the thick side but it is easy to work with.  This polish also has some holo glitters in it but my camera struggled to pick it up.  I used two coats for my swatch and two coats of top coat.

Center Of The You-Niverse is a black shimmer.  Easy to use and only requires two coats to be opaque.

Comet Closer is a warm textured gold.  When I swatched this one I didn't actually realize that this was meant to be a textured polish so I automatically added top coat.  Oops. The formula was easy to work with and it only needed two coats to be opaque.  Honestly I am not too sure why this is consisted a textured polish.  I really didn't find it textured at all.

Picture taken in light box
Give Me Space is described as a night sky blue with sparkle.  I quite like this one.  The formula is great and you could probably get away with one coat.  I used two for my swatch.

Picture taken in direct sunlight
Guys & Galaxies is a maroon creme.  Easy to use and is opaque in two coats.

Picture taken in light box
I'm In The Moon For Love is a plum purple.  This is another that I really like.  The formula is great and close to being a one coater.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box
Infrared-y To Glow is described as a red confetti and glitter.  To me this isn't really red, it's more of a rose gold/pink glitter pieces with small holographic glitters in a clear base.  It's definitely a unique polish in my collection.  The formula is definitely base heavy so I recommend dabbing the polish on (or even sponging it on if you want to build it up more).  I dabbed one coat over Guys & Galaxies.

Picture taken in light box
Let Your Love Shine is a shimmery red.  I really like this one too.  I think it's really pretty.  Formula is great and easy to use.  You could probably get away with one coat with this one but I used two coats for my swatch.

Love Is In My Cards is described as a warm red creme.  Now this one was definitely a huge surprise for me.  Normally red cremes I am not a huge fan of but this one would probably have to be my favorite red creme.  The formula is amazing and you could nearly get away with one coat.  I did use two coats for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box
Press * For Silver is described as a warm rosy silver.  I think OPI did a great job describing this one.  It really is a rosy silver.  Formula was easy to work with and it only needs two coats to be opaque.

Picture taken in light box
Ro-man-ce On The Moon is described as a lustrous, rich red.  This is another one with a really awesome formula and that you can get away with only wearing one coat.  I used two for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box
Super Star Status is a silver and gold glitter.  Now this one is quite textured.  I'm not entirely sure if it is meant to be or not.  That being said I did use two coats of top coat for my swatch.  The formula is easy to use but the glitters are a little sparse so you need three coats for it to be opaque.

Picture taken in light box
This collection (partly the reds) really surprised me by how much I like it.  I would love to get my hands on the other polishes that aren't released here in Australia.  I think they look quite pretty from the pictures I have seen.  Anyway my picks from this collection are (and in no particular order) Let Your Love Shine, Give Me Space, Love Is In My Cards, Ro-man-ce On The Moon and I'm In The Moon For Love.

The Starlight Collection is available now from David Jones and Myer.
