Powder Perfect & Grace-Full Nail Polish Christmas Duo - Swatches & Review

Thursday, 12 November 2015

Christmas polishes are rolling out quick and fast and personally I am so excited for them all.  I love everything Christmas!  Two of my favorite brands have teamed up again to bring us a Christmas Duo (both of the brand's owners are huge Christmas fans as well).  So without further ado, let's get into the pictures.

Exuberant Elf is a bright elf green with silver flakes throughout and a pop of sparkle with a scattering of silver holo microglitter.  Formula is super easy to work with and definitely makes for some cute elf nail art.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Sophisticated Santa is a decadent warm red holographic polish that shimmers with gold and silver highlights.  This polish really has a glow about it in the sunlight.  The formula is great and easy to work with.  I used two coats for my swatch.

I love that Powder Perfect and Grace-full Nail Polish have teamed up to create this Christmas duo. These are both perfect colours for the holiday season.

This duo will be available as a preorder from Powder Perfect and Grace-full Nail Polish.  Preorders will open at 10am on 14th November and go until midnight 17th November.  There will also be a 10% discount during the preorder (definitely a great time to grab them).  There will also be limited quantities released on 21st November.

OPI Starlight Collection - Swatches & Review

Wednesday, 11 November 2015

It's that magical time of year again when OPI release their holiday collection.  The holiday collections hold a special place in my heart because it was OPI's 2010 Burlesque Collection that really kick started my love for OPI and really all polishes since then.  Anyway, enough about previous years collections, lets get into this year.  OPI have released a twelve polish collection here in Australia and it is already out in stores (well at least it is at my local Myer store).  Now for you international readers, I believe the Starlight Collection actually has eighteen polishes in total so you may need to look for swatches of those elsewhere because I don't have them.

Ce-less-tial Is More is described as a pink super glitter.  I'm not entirely sure what a super glitter is but I did find this one extra textured compared to a regular glitter polish.  The formula of this one is a little on the thick side but it is easy to work with.  This polish also has some holo glitters in it but my camera struggled to pick it up.  I used two coats for my swatch and two coats of top coat.

Center Of The You-Niverse is a black shimmer.  Easy to use and only requires two coats to be opaque.

Comet Closer is a warm textured gold.  When I swatched this one I didn't actually realize that this was meant to be a textured polish so I automatically added top coat.  Oops. The formula was easy to work with and it only needed two coats to be opaque.  Honestly I am not too sure why this is consisted a textured polish.  I really didn't find it textured at all.

Picture taken in light box
Give Me Space is described as a night sky blue with sparkle.  I quite like this one.  The formula is great and you could probably get away with one coat.  I used two for my swatch.

Guys & Galaxies is a maroon creme.  Easy to use and is opaque in two coats.

Picture taken in light box
I'm In The Moon For Love is a plum purple.  This is another that I really like.  The formula is great and close to being a one coater.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box
Infrared-y To Glow is described as a red confetti and glitter.  To me this isn't really red, it's more of a rose gold/pink glitter pieces with small holographic glitters in a clear base.  It's definitely a unique polish in my collection.  The formula is definitely base heavy so I recommend dabbing the polish on (or even sponging it on if you want to build it up more).  I dabbed one coat over Guys & Galaxies.

Picture taken in light box
Let Your Love Shine is a shimmery red.  I really like this one too.  I think it's really pretty.  Formula is great and easy to use.  You could probably get away with one coat with this one but I used two coats for my swatch.

Love Is In My Cards is described as a warm red creme.  Now this one was definitely a huge surprise for me.  Normally red cremes I am not a huge fan of but this one would probably have to be my favorite red creme.  The formula is amazing and you could nearly get away with one coat.  I did use two coats for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box
Press * For Silver is described as a warm rosy silver.  I think OPI did a great job describing this one.  It really is a rosy silver.  Formula was easy to work with and it only needs two coats to be opaque.

Picture taken in light box
Ro-man-ce On The Moon is described as a lustrous, rich red.  This is another one with a really awesome formula and that you can get away with only wearing one coat.  I used two for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box
Super Star Status is a silver and gold glitter.  Now this one is quite textured.  I'm not entirely sure if it is meant to be or not.  That being said I did use two coats of top coat for my swatch.  The formula is easy to use but the glitters are a little sparse so you need three coats for it to be opaque.

Picture taken in light box
This collection (partly the reds) really surprised me by how much I like it.  I would love to get my hands on the other polishes that aren't released here in Australia.  I think they look quite pretty from the pictures I have seen.  Anyway my picks from this collection are (and in no particular order) Let Your Love Shine, Give Me Space, Love Is In My Cards, Ro-man-ce On The Moon and I'm In The Moon For Love.

The Starlight Collection is available now from David Jones and Myer.

The Nail Lab Christmas Polishes - Swatches & Review

Sunday, 8 November 2015

Last week I randomly walked out of my front door for something and to my surprise there was a package addressed to Olivia Jade Nails.  Of course this could only mean one thing.  Surprise nail mail!  Naturally I ran back inside and opened it immediately.  Inside was a beautifully packaged box with five Christmas polishes from The Nail Lab.  Now if you are looking for traditional colours for Christmas manis I think these are the colours you need - a red, a green, a white, a gold glitter and a silver glitter.  While I am eager to start doing some Christmas nail art I am going to hold off for a little bit so keep on eye out on my Instagram for nail art.

Brooke is a red creme.  It's not too bright and it's not too dark, and it applies nicely.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Diana is a clear based polishes with a mix of different sized silver glitters.  I was a little worried that this would be a little too base heavy and the big glitters would be hard to get out, but I was pleasantly surprised.  It was actually easy to work with, no fishing for the glitters and had a great amount of glitter come out.  I used one coat over black for my swatch.

Foxy is the gold version of Diana.  I did find that this one was a little sparse in the glitters than Diana but I don't necessarily think that that is a bad thing, particularly for those you don't like full on glittery nails.  The formula was easy to work with and I didn't need to fish out the larger glitters.  I used one coat over black.

Gidget is a white creme polish.  This one had a good formula, it wasn't overly streaky like a lot of white polishes and was opaque in two coats.

Picture taken in light box

Kelly is a green creme.  Easy to use and definitely a good colour for the holiday season.  I used two coats for my swatch.

All of these polishes are available for purchase at The Nail Lab.

What are your go to colours for Christmas?

Grace-Full Nail Polish Dreamy Beach Cremes Collection Two - Swatches & Review

Friday, 6 November 2015

Grace-full Nail Polish are introducing seven new polishes to their Dreamy Beach Collection.  If you missed out on the first part of this collection, you can see my swatches of the pastel cremes here and the crellies here.  From my quick look at Grace-full's online store it appears that the pastel cremes are still available, however the crellies are not.  International customers will need to check the availability with one of the stockists.  Anyway, enough about those polishes, let's get into the new shades.

Carly is a baby pink creme.  This colour is one of my favorites from this collection.  It's so pretty and very girly.  The formula is easy enough to work with, but like most light colour polishes it does apply unevenly.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box

Carol My Life is a coral pink with a soft shimmer.  Shimmer in a creme collection?  Yes you read that right.  This polish does have shimmer but it is super subtle that you can barely even see it on the nail.  It is definitely more noticeable in the bottle.  Formula was easy to use and only needed two coats to be opaque.

Faith is a jade green creme.  Again, really easy to use and only needs two coats to be opaque.

Judith is described as a mid pastel blue.  Now this is a super gorgeous colour that doesn't show entirely accurate in my picture.  Although it depends on the lighting in person as to what it looks like.  It's very hard to explain.  But the colour is amazing and so is the formula.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Kristen is described as an almost hot pink creme.  Beautiful colour and great formula.   I used two coats for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box

Terese is a yellow green with a slight shimmer throughout.  That's right, another shimmer.  This is similar to Coral My Life in that you can't really see the shimmer once it's on the nail.  Unfortunately there was no sun when I swatched this one so I was unable to even attempt to capture the shimmer.  The formula was uneven so needed three coats for even coverage.

Picture taken in light box

Zara is a baby blue creme.  Another gorgeous colour with a great formula.  My swatch shows two coats.

How stunning are these colours?  I really like them all.  My personal favorites are Carly, Judith and Zara.  Which ones are your favorite?

The Dreamy Beach Cremes Collection is being released today at 7pm and is available from Grace-Full Nail Polish.

Grace-Full Nail Polish Christmas 2015 Collection - Swatches & Review

Thursday, 5 November 2015

PRESS SAMPLE

Yes you have read the title correctly.  It is that time of year where Christmas polishes are starting to roll out.  I have a number of collections sitting in my polish room waiting for me to swatch them.  And trust me when I say there are some stunning polishes coming for us this year.  Today I am kick starting the holiday polish releases with Grace-full's Christmas 2015 Collection.

Christmas Rose is a rose gold holo with shimmer.  Really pretty and the formula is great.  This polish is actually a lot more holo in person than it looks in my picture.  The sun kept doing a disappearing act on me whilst I was swatching.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Silver And Gold has a holographic base with gold and silver flakies throughout.  This is probably my favorite from this collection.  It's super pretty and really sparkly (and who doesn't love sparkles during the holiday season?).  Formula wise it is easy to use but the flakies can make removal very messy so careful application is recommended.   My swatch shows two coats.

There are two tints (a red and a green) that have been made to go along with Silver And Gold to give it a different look.  Personally I am not a fan of these.  I have only swatched these and haven't used them for nail art so I can't comment on how they work for art.  As for painting them on a full nail I found they applied unevenly and patchy.  Plus they cover up the pretty polish. I tried applying these different ways and the result was still the same.  I only have the green tint to share with you as the red wasn't the correct colour.  Please see the Grace-full website for an actual swatch of the colour.

Picture taken in light box
Starry Christmas has a deep green jelly base with green stars, gold and red holographic stars, gold holo squares and red and green microglitter.  Now if this polish doesn't scream Christmas to you then I don't know what will.  Formula wise I found it easy to use and I didn't need to fish for any of the stars which was good.  I used three coats plus two coats of top coat for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box
Stille Nacht is a deep blue jelly with a silver superholographic microglitter.  Easy to use and super sparkly.  Pictures probably don't do this polish justice.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Vixen is a red/orange/coral jelly base with gold superholographic glitter.  This is similar to Stille Nacht.  The formula is easy to use and it is super sparkly.  I used two coats for my swatch.

I think this collection has something for everyone, and the formulas are all easy to work with (with the exception of the tints).  My personal favorites are Silver And Gold, Christmas Rose and Stille Nacht.

The Christmas 2015 Collection is being released Friday 6th November at 7pm and will be available from Grace-Full Nail Polish
