Bundle Monster Shangri-La Stamping Plate Collection - Swatches & Review

Tuesday, 4 August 2015

Bundle Monster have recently released their Shangri-La Stamping Plate Collection.  These collection consists of ten square plates with full plate designs.  Originally when I saw these plates on Bundle Monster's Instagram account I was expecting them to be the size of the Pueen Cosmetics Buffet Collection so I asked about storage (I am a huge fan of Bundle Monster's storage cases for the plates).  Much to my surprise I was told that the Shangri-La plates would fit into the same case as the round plates.  And yes they do.  It's definitely nice to keep all my small Bundle Monster plates together.

I have only had these plates for a few days now so haven't had the chance to play a great deal with them but I do quite like the designs.  The plates that I have tried stamp really well.  Some of the designs on the plates contain fine lines so you do need to work quickly so the polish doesn't dry.

Here is a couple of the manis that I have done using these plates so far.  There will definitely be more manis using these plates over time over on my Instagram page.

Plate used: BM-S101

Plate used: BM-S104

What do you think of these plates?  While I tend to get a little overwhelmed with full plate designs like these, I love that they are so easy to use and the chance of misplacing the image is minimal.  They are also great for a variety of nail lengths and shapes.  Overall, I really think these are great and think I will get a lot of use out of them.

The Shangri-La plates are available from Bundle Monster and are sold as a set or you can just buy the plates individually.  Are you going to be picking up any of these plates?

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Collection - Comparisons

Monday, 3 August 2015

As promised, I am back with some swatch comparisons of the latest China Glaze collection - The Great Outdoors.  There are a few in this collection that I don't have anything close to colour wise in my collection so I have left those polishes out.  That's not to say that there isn't anything similar to them out there, I just don't own them.  Others, I have included were either requested or because I thought they may be of interest (eg. Gone Glamping and it's comparison to OPI Just Spotted The Lizard).  If you are interested in seeing my swatches and review of this collection, you can see it here.

China Glaze Change Your Altitude vs Essie Take It Outside
No dupes with these two.  Change Your Altitude is slightly darker and is more grey toned in comparison.  Formula wise they are very similar.  I used two coats for both polishes.

China Glaze Check Out The Silver Fox vs OPI Haven't The Foggiest
These aren't exact dupes but this is a polish that I would say you don't need both of.  Formula wise they are both very similar but the China Glaze is slightly lighter in colour.  I used two coats for each polish.

China Glaze Gone Glamping vs OPI Just Spotted The Lizard
I know these aren't dupes or really that close but I had have seen some comments from people questioning the difference between the two (and all of the dupes for Just Spotted The Lizard).  So here is it.  Formula wise they are pretty similar and both need three coats to be opaque.  I think it is worth having both in your collection, if you are a fan of these types of polishes.

China Glaze My Lodge Or Yours vs Zoya Rue vs Zoya Brigitte
No dupes between any of these polishes.  The closest is Brigitte is slightly darker and more purple toned than My Lodge Or Yours.  I used two coats for all three polishes.

China Glaze Pondering vs OPI Peace Love & OPI
Definitely no dupes here.  Both are really pretty and I think are worth having in everyone's collection.  I used two coats for both polishes.

China Glaze Sleeping Under The Stars vs China Glaze Choo-Choo Choose You
These are definitely not dupes but I was asked to compare these collections.  Personally I prefer Choo-Choo Choose You because I think it's much pretty (the shimmer in the bottle of Sleeping Under The Stars looks stunning but it just isn't obvious enough on the nail).  I used one coat for Sleeping Under The Stars and two coats for Choo-Choo Choose You.

China Glaze S'more Fun vs China Glaze Trip Of A Lime Time
No dupes with these two but personally I don't think you need both (but that could be because this is not my type of colour).  I prefer S'more Fun because it has a nice formula to work with and only requires two coats.  Trip Of A Lime Time requires three coats to be opaque.

China Glaze Wood You Wanna? vs OPI The World Is Not Enough
Definitely not dupes but The World Is Not Enough is the closest in colour that I own.  Both are equally pretty.  Formula wise they are very different.  Wood You Wanna? only needs one coat to be opaque (and it stamps) where The World Is Not Enough is on the sheer side and needs three coats.

There is definitely no dupes in my collection with China Glaze's The Great Outdoors Collection.  I love when I have new collections are different to previously released polishes.  Means it's more worth while having all the polishes.

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Collection - Swatches & Review

Sunday, 2 August 2015

There is no greater thing than a new polish collection, and boy was I happy when I saw that Nail Supplies had China Glaze's Fall 2015 collection - The Great Outdoors.  I snapped these up as soon as I saw them.  I hadn't actually seen any swatches or much about these so it was a real gamble whether or not I would like them.  Luckily for me, I really like this collection.  The colours are great cooler weather polishes and the formulas are awesome.  If only all China Glaze polishes (and all polish brands really) were like these.  This collection consists of twelve polishes so be warned that this post has quite a lot of pictures.

Cabin Fever is described as a pink to copper duochrome.  Super pretty and definitely unique in my collection.  The formula is great and so easy to work with.  I used two coats for my swatches.

Change Your Altitude is described as a pebble greige creme.  I am so in love with this polishYou can probably get away with one coat of this one if you apply it carefully.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Check Out The Silver Fox is described as a metallic gunmental grey.  I really like this one too.  The formula is amazing.  I used one coat for my swatch.

Free Bear Hugs is described as a deep black red creme.  I'm not sure how I feel about the colour of this one.  I kinda go back and forth on the whole "it pretty much looks like black most of the time but in certain lights you can see it's real colour".  The formula is easy to work with.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Gone Glamping is described as a gold to green duochrome.  Really pretty polish but quite sheer in colour.  I used three coats for my swatch.

Let's Dew It is described as a multi dimension blue gray glitter.  When I swatched this on my swatch stick I didn't think it looked as though it would really build up to full coverage so I swatch it over Sleeping Under The Stars and I think it might become opaque in three coats.  I will definitely have to test that out at some point.  I quite this glitter mix and the formula is easy to work with.  My swatch shows one coat over Sleeping Under The Stars.

My Lodge Or Yours? is described as a natural mauve creme.  Definitely a great winter polish.  Formula is great and you could nearly get away with one coat.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Pondering is described as a deep amethyst duochrome.  I love this one.  It is calling me to do some form of mermaid nails with it in the future.  I think this is one of those polishes that pictures don't really do it justice.  The formula is great, so easy to work with.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Sleeping Under The Stars is described as a dark blue with stardust shimmer.  This one was kinda disappointing for me.  It looks stunning in the bottle but on the nail the shimmer is really hard to see, even in direct sunlight.  The formula is fantastic.  Easy to use and only requires one coat to be opaque.

S'more Fun is described as a lemon lime creme.  This isn't really a colour I tend to go for but you never know when you might need this colour for something.  The formula is great and requires two coats to be opaque.

Picture taken in light box
Take A Hike is described as a rich mossy green.  I really like the colour of this one and the formula is amazing.  I used one coat for my swatch.

Picture taken in light box
Wood You Wanna? is described as a rich brown burgundy metallic.  Super pretty and it stamps!  It's the only one from this collection that I have tried stamping with but I suspect a few might.  Formula is amazing and only needs one coat to be opaque.

Can you tell that I am a fan of this collection?  Particularly the formulas.  They are awesome.  I have no complaints in that department.  My personal favorites from this collection are Pondering and Change Your Altitude, followed very closely by Check Out The Silver Fox, Cabin Fever, Let's Dew It, Gone Glamping, Take A Hike and Wood You Wanna?  Told you I really like this collection.  I have already started doing some swatch comparisons using this collection but if there are any particular polishes you want to see comparisons of just let me know and I will try and do them.  I am hoping the comparison post will be up in the next day or two.

I am not entirely sure when the official release date is of this collection (China Glaze is hard to find in Australia) but I purchased mine from Nail Supplies.

Uberchic Beauty Collection One Stamping Plates - Swatches & Review

Saturday, 1 August 2015

I have mentioned before how much I desperately wanted the Uberchic plates (I am determined to collect them all) and how in love with all of them I am.  Surprisingly I still haven't done a blog post on the three sets that I own.  That is about to change.  I know these plates have been around for a little while and there are some new release plates but I still think it's nice to visit these as they are still available to purchase.

I have done quite a few manis using this set of plates (which can be seen on my Instagram page but I have included a few of the manis in this post for some examples of how they look on my nails).  From my experience with all of the Uberchic plates I have used, these stamp incredibly well.  The designs are larger than my actual nails but it just means I have less chance of misplacing the image, which is a huge plus for me.  My paper swatches were done using Konad Black and my rectangle squishy stamper from Messy Mansion.

I really can go on and on about how much I love these plates and how awesome they stamp but I am sure those who follow me on Instagram already know.  I am dying to get my hands on all the new release plates and the Uber Mat.  I will be sharing collections two and three over the next couple of weeks.

Collection One stamping plates along with all the other collections are available from Uberchic Beauty.
