Flakie Friday - Picture Polish Holiday

Friday, 22 May 2015

Happy Friday everyone!  Hope the week has treated you well and you have some exciting things planned for the weekend.  Today I am introducing piCture pOlish to my blog.   I have actually been using piCture pOlish for a few years now so they aren't actually new to me but I don't think they have ever been seen on my blog before.  piCture pOlish have actually released some flakie polishes in the past but I don't actually own any.  I did however manage to get my hands on Holiday, a special limited edition polish.

Holiday is a scattered holograpic and flakie topper.  It applies beautifully and has a great glitter payoff.  I used one coat over piCture pOlish Electric Blue.

Of course there is a mattified version.

I really love this combination of polishes and the mix of holographic glitters and flakies.  It's so pretty.  I definitely prefer the shiny version of this mani.  Which is your favorite?  Matte or shiny?

Surprisingly this polish is actually still available from piCture pOlish.

Grace-full Nail Polish Vampire Collection - Swatches & Review

Wednesday, 20 May 2015

It seems like forever since I have shared some new polishes from Grace-full Nail Polish, but they are back on my blog and I am so happy to be able to share with you the Vampire Collection.  This collection has six linear holos in deep vampy shades.  Thank you Queensland for providing me with beautiful sunshine so I could capture the holo-y goodness of this collection.

Now to save me repeating myself about the formulas of these polishes let me just say they are all fantastic.  They apply easily and are nearly completely opaque in one coat.  I mean if I was in a hurry and needed something to put on quickly I would happily grab these and only wear one coat.  All of my swatches show two coats.

Queen Of The Damned is described as a super deep purple linear holo with brown/pink flakies.  This polish is named after Akasha: Queen Of The Damned.

The Haunting Dead is described as a deep navy linear holo with indigo flakies.  This polish is named after Peter Plogojowitz: The Haunting Dead.

Hands up who can't get enough of super holo polishes *raises hand*  This collection is just beautiful.  I think my personal favorites are Queen Of The Damned, The Vampire Countess and Vampire Of Groglin Grange.

These are being released on Friday May 22nd at 7pm and will be available from Grace-full Nail Polish.

Lustre Nail Varnish Swatch Spam - Part Two

Tuesday, 19 May 2015

I'm back with some more Lustre Nail Varnish swatch spam.  If you missed out on part one you can see that here and you can also check out swatches of the full Fall collection here.  Some of my favorite polishes from the range of colours that were sent to me are in this group of swatches so let's just get straight into it.

Ananas is a bright (but not neon) yellow.  This baby is super bright - I absolutely love it.  The formula is easy to work with but it does apply slightly streaky.  I used three coats (no undies) for my swatch.

Fleur De Cerusier is described as a Cherry Blossom pink.  Pretty colour, although the colour payoff is quite thin. I needed three coats for my swatch.

Flirt is a bright magenta colour.  This colour is right up my alley.  The formula is great and easy to use.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Lavende is a lavender purple.  The formula is easy to use and is opaque in two coats.

Lichen is a pastel green filled with shimmer which was had to capture.  The formula was easy to use and required three coats to be opaque.

Vifissimo is a red toned pink.  It has an easy to use formula and only required two coats to be opaque.

How gorgeous are these colours?  I am obsessed with Flirt and Ananas.   I think they are must haves for anyone who loves bright colours like me.

These polishes as well as a bunch of other colours are available from Lustre Nail Varnish. Don't forget that Lustre are kindly offering my readers a 20% discount with the code Lustre20off.

Lustre Nail Varnish Swatch Spam - Part One

Sunday, 17 May 2015

A couple of weeks ago I introduced Lustre Nail Varnish to my blog, and today I am sharing with you some more colours that are available.  I have twelve colours in total left to share so I have decided to split them into two posts.

Au is a gold metallic polish.  Now this one actually was a surprise to me.  I was expecting it to be a light gold that it looks in the bottle, but it's darker and a lot more yellow toned.  The formula was really easy to use and only needed one coat to be opaque.

Gristorturelle is a light nude polish.  The formula on this one is quite thick but it is easy enough to use.  This polish is close to being a one coater but I needed two coats for my swatch.

Lust is a red creme.  Easy to use and only needs two coats for it to be opaque.

Mocha is a darker nude polish.  This is close to being a one coater but I needed two for my swatch.

Mulberry is a mulberry purple with a slight metallic finish.  The formula is great and only needs one coat.

Opale is a glitter topper filled with gold and rose gold hex glitters.  The base is quite thick in this one but you do get a decent glitter pay off (no fishing is required).  I used one semi dabbed coat over Gristorturelle,

I really like the formula of these polishes.  Given how close they are to being one coaters I am going to have to test out their stamping abilities.  My personal favorites from this group are Mocha and Gristorturelle.

These polishes along with others can be purchased from Lustre Nail Varnish.  Lustre are also offering my readers a 20% discount with the code "Lustre20off".

Flakie Friday - Femme Fatale Cosmetics Ever Elusive

Friday, 15 May 2015

Don't you just hate when you get new polishes and you don't have the time to play with them?  Well that's what happened to me with Femme Fatale's Ever Elusive (and the Snow White inspired polishes - I am hoping to swatch them before the end of this month if time allows).  I am so happy I finally had a chance to try this polish.

Ever Elusive is the April 2015 group exclusive for Femme Fatale Fiends (you can join here so you don't miss out on any other group exclusives, sneak peeks of new collections or other fun stuff).  This polish is a sheer crelly mauve base with pink-copper-gold-green flakies, gold holo and pink accents.  While this is a sheer polish, it can be built up for full coverage in four coats which is shown in my pictures.

I love this polish and all the colour shifts in it.  I can't wait to try layering it over different coloured bases.  I still haven't unpacked my matte top coat so I was unable to see it mattified this time, but next time I wear it I will have to add a matte top coat.  Did you manage to pick this polish up?  If so, what layering combinations have you tried?

Essie Autumn Collection 2015 - Swatches & Review

Thursday, 14 May 2015

I had been eyeing off swatches on Instagam of the new limited edition Essie Autumn collection (which I believe is the Fall 2014 collection for the international guys) and just knew I needed to track it down.  I went into Priceline a couple of weeks back because I needed a new clean up brush and it just so happened that there was 20% off the entire Essie range.  So hello new pretties for me.  Now they only had five of the six polishes in stock so that is all I grabbed.  There is also a red one which I will have to grab to add to my collection. (EDIT: I managed to pick up Dress To Kilt.  You can see my swatch and review here).

Now to save me from repeating myself I'm just going to say that the formulas of these are awesome!  I love that Essie now have the wider brushes (the older small brushes use to drive me insane) so application is easier.  These polishes all apply evenly and are nearly all one coaters.

Fall In Line is described as a enigmatic jade green.  I absolutely love, love, love this one.  It's doesn't photographic very accurately.  It's actually a little more muted than it appears in my picture.  I used one coat for my swatch.

Partner In Crime is a rich dark chocolate.  I'm surprised how much I like this one.  I'm not normally a fan of browns.  My swatch shows one coat.

Style Cartel is described as an inky cobalt blue.  Great colour and fantastic formula.  I used two coats for my swatch.

Take It Outside is describes as a punchy, fresh taupe.  It definitely is fresh.  I really love this colour.  I think it would be a great palette cleanser if you need a break from colour.  I used two coats for my swatch.

The Perfect Cover Up is described as a powerful peacock teal.  Beautiful colour and amazing formula.  I used one coat for my swatch.

I am in love with this collection.  I use to skip over Essie polishes (not because I didn't like the colours but because I found the formulas a little hit and miss and the skinny brush drove me nuts) but now with the new brushes I think I am going to start welcoming more and more Essie's into my polish family.  Hopefully they will continue with these amazing formulas.  I am truly in love with them all but if I had to pick favorites I would say Fall In Line and Take It Outside.

These polishes are limited edition so you need to get in quick.  I found mine instore at Priceline (I haven't actually seen them online).

If there are any comparisons you would like to see with this collection, let me know in the comments.

Essie Dress To Kilt - Swatch & Review

It feels like forever since I have sat down and written a blog post.  I've missed it.  I still have a lot of stuff to unpack (mainly polishes and nail art stuff) so it will probably take me a little while to get back into more regular blogging.

Today I have a super quick post.  A while ago I posted my swatches and review of the Essie Autumn 2015 Collection (you can see this post here and there is also some comparison swatches here) but at the time I was missing one of the polishes.  I have finally found a bottle so can complete my swatches and review of the collection

Dress To Kilt is a red creme.  The formula on it is really nice and is opaque in two coats.

I'm glad I managed to pick this polish up.  It's not a favorite of mine from the entire collection but it is a fantastic polish to add to my collection.
