June 2021 Favourites

I'm sure the end of June has popped up out of no where.  This month has definitely been quite a busy one for me and things in July are only going to get busier.  But more on that another time.  Today let's take what will be a quick look at the things I have loved this month.  It's definitely been a quiet month here on the blog.

Nail Art
Yep - once again I have done zero nail art this month.  Maybe one day I will have the time (and motivation) for nail art again.

Indie Polishes
Indies are really the only thing that I have been wearing this year.  Aside for all the swatching I do I tend to grab for the indies when I am not swatching.  There are just so many good polishes!

Grace-full Nail Polish Dream In The Sky (Polish Pick Up June 2021)
I instantly fell in love with this polish as soon as I unwrapped it.  It's so beautiful.  I really hope that everyone who wanted this polish managed to grab themselves a bottle before it sold out.

Grace-full Nail Polish Dream In The Sky with Emily de Molly Cohesion
I debated whether I should include this mani or not but I do love it.  I would happily put this on my nails again.

Emily de Molly Basic Toppers Collection
To say that I am obsessed with this collection is an understatement.  Seriously obsessed!  They have their own special section in my polish drawers so they are quick and easy to find.

I told you this would be a quick post.  I really have struggled with time for nails this month.  But there has definitely been some really amazing polishes released this month.

Emily de Molly Covert Base Coat With Aloe (#1 & #2) - Swatches & Review

 PRESS SAMPLE

I'm back with more new Emily de Molly's!  Their Covert Base Coats.  These bases are designed to help eliminate any visible nail line (VNL) you may have when wearing sheer nail colours.  As we know I hate VNLs so these are right up my alley.  They also double as a nail treatment as they have added Aloe extract to help prevent damage and improve the quality of dry, peeling nails.  I can't comment on how if this works as I don't have any of those concerns with my nails.  Currently there are three shades available (I have two to share with you today), however Hayley will be adding more shades to this range shortly.  I think that covers that background info on these so let's take a look at them shall we?

A little disclaimer before I jump into the swatches - for my swatches I did use a base coat underneath.  Why?  A couple of reasons.  One - it's habit for me at this point, and two - I found that these applied streaky without it.  Now given I don't need these for their treatment I don't have an issue using a regular base coat but that being said you may need to use two coats to even these polishes out.

#1

Of the two shades this one is a little more "sheer" than #2 but it's still quite opaque (as you can tell from my swatch.  For my swatch I used one coat (over a clear base coat).  My other swatches I used one coat of Emily de Molly City Of Lights and then two coats of the same polish.  For reference when I have worn this polish by itself I have worn four coats.

#2
This shade is more opaque than #1.  Again, I used one coat over a clear base coat and then swatched City Of Lights over the top.

As you can see these babies are quite opaque and definitely help out with sheer polishes.  I would comfortably wear two coats of City Of Lights (which alone I wear four coats) with both of these bases.  These bases are definitely going to be a game changer for me.

The Covert Bases are available now from Emily de Molly's Australian site and the international site

Emily de Molly "Basics" Toppers Collection - Swatches & Review

 PRESS SAMPLE

In December 2019 Emily de Molly released a range of toppers.  I was (and still am) obsessed with these toppers so when I saw that they were releasing more toppers I was beyond excited!  Toppers just transform any polish and they are so fun to play with.  Previously when swatching toppers I usually just go for a black base but this time around I decided to swatch everything over a different base.  I definitely had some fun playing with these.  But enough chatting - let's take a look at these toppers.

Deadly Secret is a clear base with a black shredded glitters.  Love this one!  As soon as I saw this I knew I had to swatch it over a neon polish.  Love, love, love how it looks.  The formula it easy to use and has great glitter payoff.  For my swatch I used one coat over Emily de Molly Swing Error.

Double Dare is a clear base filled with blue/purple iridescent flakes and orange to green shifting iridescent glitters.  Love this one too!  It is definitely better in person than in my swatch.  It's so shifty and just stunning.  Formula is great and easy to use.  For my swatch I used one coat over The Clades.

Electric Charge is a clear base with blue/purple fine particle aurora shimmer.  Obsessed with this one!  It was actually one of the first polishes I wore from this collection and I didn't want to take it off.  Seriously, obsessed!  For my swatch I used one coat over LE200.

From The Start is a clear base with a mix of colour shifting iridescent flakes in orange, lavender and aqua.  Love, love, love this one.  While I think it would also be amazing over a darker base I couldn't resist the soft base.  The formula is great and easy to use.  For my swatch I used one coat over A Subtle Approach.

Hot Spot is a clear based topper filled with copper to gold to green shifting aurora shimmer.  Another one that I am obsessed with!  This one was the first polish I wore from this collection and I fell instantly in love!  My swatch shows one coat over Original Cindy.

Knight In Armour is a clear based topper with a bright silver magnetic effect.  I like this one but I don't love it.  Maybe that's because I'm not convinced I used the right base colour.   I might need to re wear it over a different base.  The formula is great and easy to use.  For my swatch I used one coat over x452.

Pinkie Swear is a clear base with pink to orange to gold shifting fine particle aurora shimmer.  Another one I am obsessed with.  I couldn't capture the gold shift in my swatches but OMG it's so shifty and amazing.  My swatch shows one coat over The Givens.

Subset is a clear base with green to purple to red shifting iridescent flakes.  Another love of mine.  This one I couldn't resist putting over black and I love how it looks.  Again, the formula is super easy to work with.  My swatch shows one coat over Black Knight.

Sun Catcher is a clear base with silver holographic glitters and iridescent glitters.  I love the look of this one but as you can imagine with the larger glitters the formula is a little trickier to work with.  It's not terrible but not as easy as the other polishes in this collection.  I used two coats for my swatch over Emmy 2.0 but would consider sponging it on next time.

Verdant Fields is a clear base with a green to blue shifting aurora shimmer.  Love this one too.  Formula is great and applies evenly.  For my swatch I used one coat over Slackers, Bums & Weirdos.

I'm sure at this point you are well aware that I absolutely love these polishes!  I even have a seperate section in my polish drawers for Emily de Molly Toppers.  Just so they are nice and easy for me to find.

The "Basics" Toppers are available now from Emily de Molly's Australian site and the international site.
